It is reported on D1 College Wrestling that Colt will wrestle Moza Fay from Northern Iowa at the all star match. Fay is currently ranked 3rd and was 5th in the nation last year.

With a name like Fay.... Mabye not.
This match is a great opportunity to see how Colt stacks up to the best. And, hopefully, we will see if his work in the offseason will help him get first period takedowns. I can't wait. Now I wish I hadn't moved to southeast PA.

Nice matchup. Not only a chance to see how Colt stacks up against a top flite 165, but it's a chance to see two guys wrestle that haven't met before. My biggest peeve with the All-Star meet is that you see too many bouts between guys that have already wrestled each other alot. Jaggers against Gallick is great for the same reason.

This will be a very interesting style match-up. Fay's strength is on the mat. As we all know Colt's strength is on his feet. This is a great early season opportunity for Colt to see where he is at against one of the top guys in the weight class and I think will help him down the road should he face Fay again.

How are "all-star" matches set up before the season even begins?
Wouldn't that be like the NBA naming its all-star teams last week?

The first invitation was to Reader (ISU) and it was declined.
The second invitation was to Dwyer (Neb) and he accepted.
He pulled out early this week and Fay (UNI) accepted on Wednesday.
Change became public yesterday.
At 157 Poeta (ILL) was officially withdrawn on Thursday afternoon. The next invitation was to Dan Vallimont (PSU) and he accepted. Leen (Cornell), Poeta, and Vallimont went 1-2-3 last season. I would have liked to have seen Schlatter get the invite here since he is from Ohio and grew up in the area.
Invitations are extended on a variety of criteria.
1. All returning champs
2. Returning finalists
3. Returning All-Americans (considering last years place and career)
4. Consideration of wrestlers changing weights (ex. Ness moving up to 133)
The first NWCA/InterMat rankings were released after the intial invitations were extended.
