Kent is in the thick of a tight team race with CMU, Oklahoma, and Edinboro. Go Golden Flashes.

Quick notes:

125- Nice showing for the true freshman Sentes at Central. Wins over Fio and Bedelyon are significant. Sentes was kind of the afterthought in a class that included Cubberly and Bennett.

133- Mitcheff beats Beebe, they'll deal with each other many a time this year. Ruggirello won the tournament, four victories all by pin.

141- Kruger beat Lashaway in OT in the semis, they'll see each other many times. Two of the four key figures in the MAC's toughest weight. Bailey of Oklahoma won the weight. Lashaway came back to third.

149- Steve Brown of Central wins this one with victories over Rowe and Kyler. Yet another relatively uncredentialed kid (though he did AA at seniors) coming out of high school that Borelli pecks, develops, and gets production from.

165- King over Stewart in the final. This is a battle that could happen in the round of 12 at the NCAA tournament. Patrovich (hofstra, started at ohio state) beat Simpson (Kent) 7-6 before getting pinned by King in the semi. Simpson beat the Oklahoma kid coming back (Smith) before losing to Patrovich for 3rd.

174- Mike Miller took a loss to Jeff James (Oklahoma). I recall Miller losing to James out in Fargo after his senior year of high school. Lucas beat James to take the weight. Miller came back to third.

184- Kilgore won the weight, whipped Central's DiDona 9-2 in the semi. Pat Flynn was 3rd, highly touted out of high school - now at Oklahoma.

197- Latopsky is another Oklahoma wrestler at his second school (beat Max Askren first round of the NCAA's in 2007 while at Bucknell), won the weight. Chine was only 5th with Blackwell out.

285- Fendone of Edinboro wins the weight; pinned Barlow, beat Central's Trice 8-0, then beat Porter 2-0. Porter took 2nd. Barlow with a DNP. Trice took 3rd.

Kent was 4th, Central 3rd. Oklahoma won, Edinboro 2nd.
