Discussion Topic: Morrison Big Ten Wrestler of Week

Buckeye walk-on, Corey Morrison, was named Big Ten WOW for his win over Top Ten ranked Joe Fendone in dual vs Edinboro.

Just goes to show what one can accomplish with focus and determination. Corey is now a guy that gets discussed when mentioning potential AA's at 285. Not bad when you consider that Morrison's major high school accomplishments were finishing 4th at state and making the round of 12 at Sr Nationals. Nice stuff but hardly noteworthy for most guys on a top ten collegiate squad. And yet here he is.

What's equally impressive--he's one of the best students on the squad.

There was lots of pressure going into that last match. OSU up by 4, with Edinboro's ranked 285., coming up ( I believe was undefeated to that point) I'll bet the Edinboro folks figured they would get at least a major to tie, and possibly a tech or pin to win. What I liked about the match, at the end when Corey had a good lead, he didn't take any crazy unnecessary shots that would put him in danger Very smart wrestling. He might have been able to get an extra TD or two, because Fendone looked tired, but why risk it?
