Ohio State has a chance to finish the national duals at 4-1 if they get a win over Minny. It should be a good dual. The Bucks have done well so far with big wins over Boise State and Mizzou--two top ten squads. The Cornell loss was obviously reversible. But in all three wins Ohio State got a lot of productivity in their lower wts. This dual will be difficult as Minny is loaded at 125-141. It's the upperwts where Minny has proven vulnerable. Whether or not Ohio State can take advantage of this weakness will determine the outcome of this dual.
Quick matchup review.
125: Triggas v Sanders --Triggas has had a good weekend--this would be a strong win if he can get it.
133: Hump v Ness--Hump has beaten highly ranked Hochstrasser and Grey. This would be the biggest win of his career and mark him as a serious national title contender. Ness is nasty on top and tricky on his feet.
141: Jags v Thorn--Jags is 4-0 this weekend and all the opponents have been tough. This will be another hard match. Didn't Thorn upset him in Vegas?
149: Palmer v Peterson--Peterson's one job will be to try and avoid the pin.
157: Johnstone v Safratowich--two good upperclassmen that are both trying to get more solid footing at this deep weight class. Johnstone has had to wrestle Leen and Chandler who are both tough hombres. He needs a win here to get back on track. A win here would be huge for the Bucks.
165: Sponseller v Glasser--Colt beat him by a couple earlier in the season. Glasser has been solid but unspectacular. Colt has already taken on Fay, Marable and Lewnes. His "easy" match was the rugged Tyler Sherfey. What a tough weekend.
174: Rella v Kaleb Young--Bucks need this one. Rella capable of the W but the key will be to get a few takedowns. Otherwise, it'll be a battle of attrition.
184: Pucillo v Sonny Yohn--If Mike got a good night's sleep, this should be at least a major.
197: Gardner/Cook v Chris McPhail--Both teams are losing at this weight class of late. The Gardner we saw earlier in the season would have won this matchup. Now...hard to say. It's hard to know what to expect from a wrestler when he got walloped the previous day.
285: Morrison v Berhow--Morrison was so tired against Boise State that he literally stalled the entire bout--and got the win. He beat Berhow in Vegas in what seemed like a modest upset at the time. Berhow beat Kyle Massey yesterday. Did Corey get some rest last night? He'll need it to beat Berhow again.
Incidentally, if you want to watch this match online, go to livesportsvideo.com and register. You can watch them for free--I think. I know the finals matches will not be shown. I'm not sure about the place matches. The dual is at 1:00pm but that's 2:00pm est.

Hank, Thanks for the breakdown. It seems as though the Bucks wrestled up to their potential for the most part yesterday. Hopefully they keep it up this afternoon.
BTW, it was nice to see Sean Nemec in action yesterday. He was put in a tough situation against a pretty good Adam Hall. I can see him winning a lot of matches in the future.

DJ: here's from memory.
Ohio State 25 Minny 12
125: Sanders over Triggas 7-2. Match was close early but Sanders was able to escape on bottom and began to get in repeatedly on Triggas legs.
133: Humphrey over Ness 5-4. Hump took down Ness easily twice in the first period--probably in the first minute. He couldn't ride and gave up a stalling point but fought off Ness the rest of the bout. Ness was 2nd in country last year at 125.
141: Jags over Thorn 6-2. Vintage Jaggers in that the match was close, Thorn got in on a shot, and jaggers hit a crazy counter that resulted in him getting five points--indeed the pin was called one second after the period ended. Jags was in deep on a likely takedown at the end of the third period. Thorn had beaten Jags in Vegas.
149: Palmer pinned his opponent. Palmer got a TD on the edge, flattened out his opponent, methodically locked up his power half and pinned his hapless opponent. It was pure power.
157: Safratowich won a decision over Johnstone. Johnstone got a quick early td but Saf escaped got a quick td and rode Johnstone for half the first and the entire second period. In the third, Saf got out but Johnstone locked up a near cradle and got the two but was unable to manuver to a position where he could score backs.
165: Solid decision by Sponseller over Glasser. I think the final was 4-0. Sponseller got a great td in the first period near the end of the period when he refused to give up on a single that Glasser countered well. Glasser is very strong. Sponseller rode him well, got out in the third and kept on the attack. He also countered really well when Glasser got in deep on a shot in the third period. Sponseller continues to improve in all areas of his wrestling. Last year we imagined he could compete for a title. This year he's one of the big boys at this weight class. Best improvement may be that Sponseller doesn't go into a funk after a loss.
174: Rella won by major decision in his best effort of the season. He hit some beautiful shots including a high C, ankle pick and bear hug. It was good to see him wrestling with confidence. His opponent, Young, had given some tough wrestlers solid matches so this wasn't a "gimme."
184: Pucillo won by pin. This weekend has given him a chance to work into shape and shake off some of the rust.
197: Gardner lost a decision but was obviously giving more effort. Right now, however, he's lacking confidence. His repeated sweep single attempts weren't set up well. Still, the first step to progress is simply to wrestle hard and he did.
285: Joe Nord hit a beautiful shot--re-shot at the end of the third period to beat Corey Morrison 4-3. Another tough loss for Corey but his effort wasn't lacking.

I'll give a very quick one.
125-Sanders dec. Triggas- Sanders looked like he could take Nikko down whenever he wanted on his feet.
133-Hump dec. Ness-Hump got 2 quick takedowns then shut it down. Ness pushes the pace late and Hump gives stalling point.
141-Jaggers dec. Thorn- J catches him in a scramble and almost sticks him. I think the final was 7-2.
149-Palmer pins Minny kid-Fall via power half.
157-Saf dec. Johnston-I stepped away from the computur during this one but my understanding in Saf won a close one.
165-Spoon dec. Glasser-Controlled him in a 4-0 victory. COlt rode him hard and had over 2 minutes of riding time.
174-Rella major Minny-Nice win for Rella. Pushed the pace on his feet and scored a bunch of nice takedowns.
184-Pucillo pin Minny-Mike punished dude for a while before getting the fall.
197-Minny dec. Gardner-ROugh weekend for COdy Gardner.
285-Nord dec. CoMo-Nord scores takedown with about 15 second left to get the win.
