Discussion Topic: Illinois first-year freshman places 2nd at 135 3A
I went down to watch the state semifinals in Illinois today and saw a freshman (Max Schneider) had pinned Ellis Coleman (ranked in the top 5 in the country) in the quarterfinals then pinned his opponent in the semifinals. He also pinned his first round opponent. The amazing thing other than him being a freshman was that it is his first year ever wrestling. He is a very good judo player. He lost a tight 12-9 match in the state finals to a guy he pinned earlier in the year.
