I am amazed at the talent on this list. The BigTen is amazing in wrestling.

So help me out, what is the pre-assigned # of qualifiers that makes it out before the committee ads the others in? If the tournament finishes exactly like the seeds (which it never does), how many are the bucks going to get out?

Based upon the allocation of automatic bids, if the Bucks wrestle to their seeds they would automatically qualify 8 (all but 197 and 285.).

Buckeyes have their work cut out for them. Sponseller has a much tougher path due to his loss to Howe. Pucillo will face Keddy as a result of the NW match. Triggas will need to wrestle well as will Rella and Morrison. Hopefully this team has a good tourney.

What is the significance of pre-seeds? Who made this list? Will they change?

Humphrey is number 5 in the country. He had his two losses late in the season which is what put him there. Unfortunately the 4 wrestlers ranked in front of him are Big Ten wrestlers. This is probably the toughest Big Ten weight class.

"What is the significance of pre-seeds? Who made this list? Will they change?"
--------------------------------------
each Big Ten head coach submits his list of 8 seeds per wt to compile the pre-seeds, then this Friday they get to argue it on conference call--- but don't expect many if any changes.
sometimes a 4 or 5 seed is ok, in
Humphrey's
case he is away from very strong 2 & 3 seeds Gomez & Kennedy, so i think his # 5, though surprisingly low, is ok. The top 5 guys are all tough.
Hank is right,
Pucillo
didnt want # 2 with Keddy ---and
Sponseller
loss to Howe puts him on same side with Morningstar, so those # 2s aint good. On the other hand,
Palmer's
# 3 is away from Metcalf and
Jagger's
# 5 is away from Russel & Tsirtsis which is ok, too.
Usually its about whose in your half bracket and who u wrestle first, not necessarily how high you are. Most times if u win ONE match you qualify for NCAAs out of Big Ten tourn, but of course the AA candidates want a good seed at NCAAs so they want to be the champ at Big Tens or at least top 3. ----NCAA tourn seeds 12 per weight class.
with 61 Big Ten Quals guaranteed-- and a total of 52 more yet to be allocated around the nation, Big Ten probably ends up with about what they've had for many years now, 72 Quals.
BUT i think the DIF will be that in some wts 8 will Qualify, in some 7 and couple wts perhaps only 6 will Qualify.
Its not the same formula of 7 per each wt plus 2 at large picks as it has been in the past. Will depend on the depth in various wts as determined by the NCAA Committee.

Tom Brands told me once when i crossed paths with him while he was recruiting,
" I'm looking for some TUDE."
i have the feeling the Buckeyes gonna have some TUDE this weekend, no more Mr Nice Guys in Columbus Ohio.

Bob...Is there any way I can get JUST this issue? I'd love nothing more than to let the kids read first-hand the story that they've heard countless times since last March. If nothing else, just to show that I'm NOT lying when I say that this really happened.
I would love to see a stand at the State tournament with this issue. Any help will do!
