I'm shocked that Lewnes is out. I had him pegged for the finals.

Any updates on the team scores?

We won't know anything until the round is over. My guess if Bucks remain in third. Kent may have cracked the top 10.

Morrison wins cons. match. So a very very nice 2nd round for the Buckeyes. 5 wrestlers to the quarters and 3 still in consolation. 8 of the 9 brought to St. Louis still wrestling. Some matches weren't so pretty, but a win is a win. Go Bucs!!

Morrison wins his con. So bucks went 3-1 in round 2 cons (Johnstone 1-1) while advancing five to the quarters. That's a very good first day.

KSU with three in the quarters and three in the cons is probably top ten as well.

My god was yesterday insane. Who would have thought a couple of years ago that David Craig would get majored in the early consi rounds by a freshman from Wyoming. Mark Branch is really doing an excellent job up there.

Zabriskie rallied to beat Dustin Rogers- he was down 6-2 in that match. I have so much to say about yesterday, I couldn't even find a spot to begin. That is the craziest day of wrestling I think I have ever seen.

Falck losing to Robles- jesus.

I am taking the whole day off and watching ESPNU all day. It is great that ESPN is giving us the quarters, semis and finals. So much for getting any work done heading into the weekend. :)

After sleeping on the my thoughts of the first day, it appears that the big five scorers for tOSU have performed up to par for the first day. Rella has a rematch of an earlier season loss. The loss to Boise State was before Rella really started to turn it on so he should be able to turn it around. As others have said before, tOSU really needed some extra points from the at-large qualifiers, and everyone of them have won at least one match to help propel the buckeyes to within 3 points of first place. Coach Ryan seemed to really have his guys re-focused for day one after a disappointing Big Ten tourney.

I am incredibly excited for Kent State's chances going into today. Lashaway, Mitcheff, and Porter had great first days, and all three have the ability to AA. I believe that yesterday's loss will really fire up Kilgore, as evidenced in his first consi match. Chine got the early win and then fought back to only lose by one. I wouldn't be surprised to see him one another match or two. Bedelyon got a big win in the consis, but has a tough task today.

All in all, we have got to be happy with the day one performances for Kent State and tOSU.

Without thoroughly examining the draws at each wt, I don't know who is most likely to do what. But, generally speaking, the Buckeyes have placed themselves in position to contend for the national title.

What would help:
1) Spoon beats M*
2) Jags beats Gallick
3) Friggin Dustin Rogers should have beat Zabriskie. Too late but how do you blow that match????
4) Bedelyon beats Clark in the cons and puts out an ISU scorer.
5) Triggas wins his next against a beatable Bonnano from Hofstra
6) Rella stays alive
7) Hump, Pucillo and Jags all make the finals. It helps if Spoon has the day of his life and beats M* and Howe. Incidentally, if Spoon loses in the quarters he'll have a very winnable cons bout to AA.

8) @133 - Kennedy beating Fanthorpe would be big.

#4. Check.

Nice job by Bedelyon. Needs two more wins to AA.
