I ws just wondering what is the best national tourament for highschool kids?
NHSCA? Ironman? Fargo? Disney?

This is a great question because there are so many national-level tournaments now. Usually when I see this type of a topic, I avoid it because it is the same tournaments talked about over and over. But then...
I asked a wrestler who placed at the state tournament what his plans were for wrestling in the off-season. He said that he was taking some time off for his track season but asked his coach what he should do in the summer. His coach said he should go to Fargo.
I asked the kid if he had ever wrestled freestyle before and he said that he had not. I asked the kid if he was planning on wrestling freestyle in the off-season. He said he might in the summer. I asked the kid if he realized, or if his coach told him, that he had to qualify for Fargo. He had no idea that he had to. I asked him if he had any other plans for wrestling this off-season. He said that he didn't, he was just basing it off of what his coach told him.
Again, that is a returning state placer I was talking to. In my mind it legitimizes this conversation and these wrestling forums a little bit more...

I wouldn't say that there is just one "best" tournament because there are many categories.
NHSCA Tournaments
Type: National
Style: Folkstyle
When: Usually two weeks after the state tournament
Divisions: 12, 11, 10, 9, Middle School, Elementary School
USAW Tournaments
Type: National
Styles: Freestyle and Greco-Roman
When: Last week in July
Divisions: Juniors, Cadets, Women
OHSAA State Tournament
Type: State
Style: Folkstyle
When: First week in March
Divisions: Big schools, Medium schools, Small schools
Ironman Tournament
Type: Invitation-only
Style: Folkstyle
When: First or second week of December
Divisions: None
AAU Scholastic Duals (Disney)
Type: National
Style: Folkstyle
When: Summer
Divisions: All-Star, Community
