Kent State's Jermail Porter, who has not played a down of organized football in his life, agreed in principle to a contract with New England. More to follow...

Obviously, he has excellent raw talent.
Does anyone close to the situation know whether he has excellent 40 time, shuttle time or can bench press 225 for mega reps?

Porter has the raw tools to make either a good offensive or defensive lineman. Still, a free agent contract means he goes to camp and gets evaluated. He's a long way from making a roster in the NFL.
Don't forget--the Patriots have done well with Stephen Neal. They're probably more interested in wrestlers than most teams.
Didn't Eric Mangini invite Tom Rowlands and Kole Konrad to Jets mini camp a few years ago? Could Rowlands make a return trip to the Browns?

At 6-8, 280+, he has OT written all over him.
Assuming he shows good enough foot speed, it would be prudent for New England to at least bring him into camp.
It's hard to find big guys with mobility and range that have the frame and leverage to play offensive tackle. If they can find one from obscure means, then all the better if you're a Pats' fan.

The Pats take chances like this. It obviously paid off with Stephen Neal, who has been a mainstay on their OL for several seasons.
When I watched Porter, I was constantly impressed with his ability to shoot doubles and score like a lightweight.
