Ashland University comes to South Euclid for a dual meet Dec. 14th @ 7p.m. Come out and support college wrestling. This is the first of five home duals for the falcons this year. Should be an excellent match with many former OH hs. stand outs competing. Hope to see you there.

Was a nice showing tonite at NDC. Gene Weiss was honored with a plaque for his support for all his support for NDC wrestling. Ashland came ready to wrestle with 6 freshmen in their line up wrestling close matches for the most part, but fell short 24-9.
125 Davis (AU) dec. Rini (NDC)

141 AU forfeits (No Kanaga)
149 Primus (NDC) dec. Rigel (AU)
157 Pelton (NDC) dec. Pool (AU)
165 Straughn (NDC) dec. Bradberry (AU)
174 Bittenger (NDC) 2-1 dec. Gaszl (AU)
184 Denman (NDC) dec. Cheesman (AU)
197 Foore (NDC) pin Grider (AU)
285 Houska (AU) 9-6 dec. Scales (NDC)
Few random thoughts:
Houska vs. Scales was best match of the night. Key turning point was 3rd period Scales threw Houska to his back, but Houska rolled through and put Scales on his back. Houska rode legs very well the whole match. Difference in match was Scales finishing position on his throw and Houska's incredible leg wrestling.
Straughn wrestling up a weight was also very impressive. Bradberry is tough, but Straughn was a step quicker tonite. I blinked and missed one of Straughn's many duckunders. I think he was in on 5 ducks and finished 3. His pace was relentless.
Bittenger v. Gaszl. Bittenger couldn't catch a break on takedowns near the edge. At least 3 no call takedowns seemed questionable near the edge, but Bitt still won on riding time.
Derek Foore- simply a beast.
Not the best recap, but hey, we all can't be as good as Bucksman.
