I guess Stieber was up 11-1 in the 3rd and then got thrown to his back for 4.

Altogether, a nice showing by the Ohio wrestlers. Heck, they won 3 bouts when PA won 4.

3 of 4 for OH, 4 of 13 for PA.

Here is a post from the USA Wrestling forums. It looks like Logan gave up two 3rd period takedowns.

"125 - Stieber showed why he's the #1 wrestler in the Class of 2010; and given that Cashé Quiroga made the semis at NCAA (he lost to Tsirtsis in the 2009 Indiana state final), why some think of him as an IMMEDIATE IMPACT AA candidate in the 125# weight class. Port is a game opponent, will be ranked third in the InterMat update to be posted Tuesday (Stieber/Thielke/Port). Impressive jumping to the opposite side armbar turn in the first for Stieber. The two Port takedowns in the third kept the match from being a major. "

Is there any video of these matches?

I am shocked that this was the same day as the D1 national finals.

Outstanding work by the Ohio four. Josh's recap said Sulzer was the more aggressive wrestler in his match as well, with a couple very close scoring opportunities. Tough to see 3 out of these 4 leaving state, and two headed to the state of Virginia!

They all four look like sure fire studs at the next level.

It was held the same day because of facility/logistical issues.

Remember that PA state was last weekend.

The original date was going to be today. However, Pitt had a women's basketball regional on its campus (Pedersen Events Center). Though the DD is held at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse, having two events on the same day would pose logistical problems - support staff, and most notably parking/traffic.

The weekend ahead is the Sr Nationals, FloNationals, etc.

The weekend after that is Good Friday/Easter.

When exactly are you going to get a high-end field together to compete and keep it close enough to the season for people to care?

Here's the thing about the OH v PA matchups, OH was expected to win three of the four and they did. Make nothing of that - it was what it was, period end of story. No great proclamations can be made.

Great proclamations?

Such as saying a NEDAB all-senior all-star squad would have smoked the WPIAL in a dual this year? Is that a type of great proclamation?

103 Jack Young, Mentor
112 Kory Mines, Maple Heights

Why this hasn't happened in the Dapper Dan undercard is a puzzler. It seems like a natural. The Wpial has faced the OVAC (schools from East/SE Ohio and bordering West Virginia schools-ie Parkersburg) twice and selected other PA districts. If the NEDAB turns a cold shoulder to the idea perhaps the Greater Cleveland wrestling Coaches and Officials Association could do something. They already organize the east/west all star event that, in part, supports their scholarship program.

A team of just Greater Clevelanders (the PD 7 counties) should have been more than competitive:

Revise the above list with Connor Dempsey or Kyle Marrone at 140, Michael Samijlenco at 215, and Kodie Egnor at 130.

BTW-question for anyone. If this could have happened, who would have been considered the second best, Cleveland area, senior 103 this year?

Dream scenario: Greater Cleveland faced the WPIAL in this year's Dapper Dan and the area's second best senior 103 was needed for whatever reason. I would have LOVED to see that. Of course, the 103 weight class isn't used. So it's just imaginary musings.

"Great proclamations?"

Caesar made great proclamations and that was about 2000 years ago, so "heed not the temptation to make these proclamations lest ye invoke the ire of Caesar's ghost" (as Shakespeare wrote).
