TOSU website lists those Buckeye wrestlers who are attending the Open, both attached and unattached. Those most notably missing, Stieber, Palmer, Demas and Hiles. I think I had heard that Palmer was not yet cleared medicaly. Does anone have knowledge as to why the others are not competeing?

I still don't see Demas listed on the roster?? I would assume, only speculating on the absence of some of the Buckeyes, that they are dinged up a little. I wouldn't send them in this early in the season to a tournament where they stand to wrestle 4 or 5 matches? in a day, if they are banged up. Just thinking out loud...

Demas had a health issue at the beginning of the fall which compromised his ability to compete. He's ok now but you won't see him listed on the roster until second semester. He was enrolled at Ohio State over the summer and practicing at that time. He is very much a part of the future of this squad.
More interesting...Demas is listed at 157 pounds. It seems like a big cut--but Mark Mollica was a state champ 171 his senior yr for Walsh then won 2 national titles as a 157 for Az State.

I guess we should take his performance in Va. with a grain of salt, considering his recent health issues. I'm going to Buffalo on Sunday, and a little disappointed that Stieber isn't going to wrestle. Oh well, the seasons long. He should have an interesting matchup with NCAA qualifier Zanetti from Pitt. at the Buckeye Duals. That's why I was hoping he could get some good matches in before the Dual.

I don't know that it means anything now, but last year at Districts, I watched Demas weigh in at 163. He was not feeling well and that was the reason for being so low, but I don't think he walked around over 170 normally. If you're walking around at 170, you're probably a '57-pounder (or lower) in the Big Ten.

Anyone know where to find any brackets or results for the UB Open? Was hoping the wrestling twitter account or facebook account might have something, but no luck.

Man, Notre Dame is good.
Derek Foore must be seriously good. I wonder how he would do in D1.
