About as dominant as you can get over an excellent Jesse Dong.

Taylor is simply at a different level that anyone from Ohio.

I think he is going to the best college wrestler from Ohio since Kemp.

Quote from Michael Rodriguez's post:

"It'll be great to see two Ohio stars face off, particularlly a Central Ohio guy, but, and I may be alone on this one, I see this as a pretty straight forward win for David Taylor. It's tough for me to type, because you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger Jessie Dong fan than me...But Taylor is just THAT GOOD. I don't see bonus, but I think Taylor will control the bout and win by a comfortable margin."

I'm right so rarely, that I forget what it feels like.

I enjoy seeing these results and remembering everyone on the national forums questioning his strength and ability to wrestle D1 57s.

What's that noise I hear??? Oh, it's the Michael Rodriguez horn! I wonder who is tooting it? Oh, it's Michael!!!

I'm impressed. A friend of mine said, this year, at the National Tournament, Penn State will go as far as David Taylor takes them. If everyone does what they are supposed/expected to, and D.T. wins it all, they will win the trophy. Should he falter, the PSU Nittany Lions will still have a solid showing but top 3, maybe top 5, is ow they'll end up.

I like that statement.

And I heart D.T.. And the DONGer for that matter.

One quick note (I think mainly because I have a slight man-crush on Lee Kemp): Lee Kemp began wrestling as a freshman in high school. 9th graders were not allowed to compete at the varsity level then. So he came out to his first varsity experience his sophomore year and went 11-8. That's 11 wins... and 8 losses.

He then went on to win 2 State championships for Chardon! (Quick point: Can you imagine being in the state finals against a kid who's been wrestling for now a 3rd year!? You gotta be thinking you're gonna steamroll this kid!)

He then went on to Wisconsin (in his fifth year of wrestling - maybe sixth if he red-shirted) and made the finals! Runner-up followed by 3 NCAA championships!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! To include 6!... That's SIX world titles!?!?!?!?!

Special shout out to the 1980's administration for boycotting the summer Olympics that year!

Oh and that reminds me; Lee Kemp is SWEEEEEEET!!!

And Tommy Rowlands, have no fear. You are my bro-mance. Lee's just a man crush!

It's only the first weekend of wrestling and you are in mid-season form my friend. Well played.

With all respect, Kemp won three world titles in 1978, 1979 and 1982. He also won a bronze in 1981. Like his mentor/coach Russ Hellickson, he was deprived of an opportunity to compete in the boycotted 1980 Olympics, where both were favored to win.

Lee Kemp was a true freshman when he lost a referee's decision in the NCAA vs. Chuck Yagla of Iowa. He never lost again in college.

Here's Kemp's web site: http://www.leekemp.com/aboutlee.htm

I stand corrected... 4x medalist; 3x world champ, 1x third.

Also, didn't he beat that one guy... Oh, what's his name!? Coached at Iowa for a while... Dan Gartner? Dave Ganston? Got it! Dan Gable!!!

What makes Taylor so unique among Ohio greats of recent years is his incredible mat skills. He has so much game from top position that it's almost unfair. That said--no Lee Kemp comparisons please. Too soon. Way too soon.

Oh, and one more note on this topic. David Taylor was redshirted. Think that helped?

You keep that up and someone on here might start believing it!
