Good read. Couple things that stood out for me.

1. Ryan doesn't sugar coat anything. He basically said what we all think.
2. Colt moving back to 165.
3. Demas in the mix at 157. I was never really clear on what happened to Demas, as far as him not being available to start the seaon. I guess they aren't redshirting him.
4. Paddock being dinged up might explain some things.
5. Losing 4 4-time state champions. I'm assuming he's talking about Lance graduating and Collin and Tony gone, but who is the 4th? Hope he's not talking about Jaggers, that's 2 seasons ago.
6. Still not clear on Collin and Tony. Are they on the team or not?

OSU definitely has a challenge ahead of them, I'm interested to see how it plays out. I'm still behind Ryan & the staff & the werstlers.

I think the 4 state champs Coach
Ryan was talking about were Collin, Tony, Stieber (hurt) and Hefflin (skin)

Quote from Brad Perkins's post:

"I think the 4 state champs Coach

He is refering to Derek Garcia grey-shirting, Collin and Tony leaving the team, and Logan Stieber being forced into a medical redshirt.

On the bright side, all of us who think 165 and 184 are better for Spons and Magrum will find out soon enough.

Also, while it would have been nice to see what Palmer and Jameson could have done if healthy, we have now freed up some money for the upperweight recruit(s) we so so desperately need. Now to get them.

Quote of the century... (Sorry about this Ben, but it was one paragraph in...)

"It was worse than the score." Ton Ryan.

THE SCORE WAS 42-3!?!?!?!?!?!?! The only thing worse than that is 60 to -2!!!!!!!

Tom Ryan gets it. The kids get it. The staff gets it.Injuries happen, but they (injuries) cannot be an excuse!

One thing I fall back on... He's still the same coach that led the Buckeye Nation to two runner-up finishes. I refuse to believe he has aquired amnesia!

I presume with Palmer and Jameson leaving the team it was due to injuries?

I believe that Ryan, and Colt, gave much thought to the decision to move to 157 during the off season, and wanted to give that decision a fair opportunity to work. Many of us did not have the patience they had and wnted the old Colt back right now. I was one of those individuals. I'm glad that the decision to move back up has been made and am hopeful that Colt can get back to were he was over the first three years here at TOSU. March may come too soon, but I'm in Colts corner. He deserves that for all that he has been to the University and it's fans.

I think that big loss to Taylor had to be the last straw. Colt has lost to 165 lb. NCAA Champ Howe by some narrow margins, nothing like the loss to Taylor. I will admit, on paper I thought it would be a good move, for both Nemec & Colt. But alas, they both struggled at their new weights. I am looking forward to the second half of the season now. At the very least, I hope wrestling will be fun again for those two guys.
BTW: I was glad Heflin was pulled do to skin infection, and not an injury.

I guess the Heflin news was the bright spot of the weekend.

I think when a skin infection is the bright spot of a weekend, it's been a really bad week!
