Two more early college commitments were announced today: Daniel Kolodzik committed to Princeton University and Aaron Sulzer committed to Eastern Michigan University.

Daniel Kolodzik, a senior at the Miami Valley School in Dayton, has announced his commitment to wrestle at Princeton University. Academics are obviously a high priority for Kolodzik. For him to be accepted to a college with Ivy League caliber academics is an excellent accomplishment and a mark of an outstanding student-athlete. On the mat, Kolodzik was the Division 3 state champion last year at 125 pounds. He also won a state title as a freshman at 103 pounds and finished fourth in the state as a sophomore in a loaded 119 pound class. Last year, Kolodzik finished with a record of 37-3 and was #2 at 125 pounds in the all-division rankings behind only Collin Palmer. His career record is 107-14 and, perhaps most notably, he has placed at the prestigious Ironman tournament all three years (second, fifth, fourth). Kolodzik projects to wrestle at 133 or 141 pounds for the Tigers under head coach Chris Ayers.

Aaron Sulzer, a senior at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights, committed to wrestle at Eastern Michigan University. Sulzer was the Division 2 state champion last year at 130 pounds and finished with a record of 40-8. In the spring, He placed seventh at 125 pounds as a sophomore and qualified for the state tournament as a freshman, accumulating a career record of 114-24 in high school. Sulzer finished as an All-American at the NHSCA Junior national tournament.and has had a lot of success in the USA Wrestling circuit in Freestyle. Sulzer projects to wrestle at 141 pounds for the Eagles under head coach Derek DelPorto.

I was wondering if and when we would hear from Kolodzik during this early period. I was concerned that he may be just a bit under the radar of the big boys, which would have been a shame.

Apparently, he was just looking Ivy League.

Good luck to all the Ohio boys as they enter their senior season and leave us to go to college.

Have known Daniel since he was a little guy working out at Caroll HS and at Jordan's. Great kid with a good future. His parents support all their kids to help them reach their highest potential. Couldn't be happier for this great kid and his family.

Kolodzik was impressive to watch at last year's state meet. He's a hammer. Obviously he's also a great student. Congrats to him.

EMU coach Delporto might be the guy to get that program permanently pointed in the right direction. Like Garland and others, he seems to be raiding Ohio for major recruits. Nice to see Sulzer will be continuing in the MAC where we can follow.
