Ohio State signed Keaton Thompson, a senior at Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama. Thompson is a three-time state champion (119, 119, 135), won the NHSCA sophomore national championship (119), and was a runner-up at the recent Super 32 tournament (130). Congrats to Thompson and the Buckeyes.

What weight will he be competing at and where does he project in college? Interesting signing for the Bucks given their depth at 133-141.

Since Thompson won a state title as a junior at 135, I've got to think he probably projects to be at 141. He'll redshirt his first year which would make him a factor for the lineup in Reece Humphrey's senior year. I don't know that we'll have anyone else at that weight class (unless Jameson can stay down there) so he could be the #1 depth guy there. There's probably no chance at starting at 149 because of Lance (and hopefully Collin) Palmer. At 133, we'll have a junior Livingston and probably one of the current 125s. Thompson is going to have to beat out at least one older stud to make it into the lineup, then beat out the rest of the new recruits. For the Buckeyes, this is a great problem to have. Now, after Humphrey graduates, the 141 spot is open (again, unless Tony Jameson is there). Thompson could be starting there as a redshirt sophomore.

If Collin were to come to Ohio State Lance would be a senior and thus Collin could redshirt and if he can win the spot compete at 149 the following year. 141 would be occupied by Reece for his senior year, 133 manned by Triggas (if he gets big enough). What I'm more curious about is how things will turn out with 157/165. Will Nemec redshirt this year and move straight up to 165 or will he stay on at 157? Afterall all the posulations I've heard is that Colt will move up to 174 after this year leaving 165 open.
