Wow-

The score looks bad, and is, but I see some positives for Eds. The positives for Graham are obvious, they just beat the defending national champs 47-13.

Roddy stuck by Z.Thomusseit. I had thought that 189 was the right weight for Roddy, and despite this result, I hope he sticks with it. Taylor 2-1 Clark- good results for Clark, and Green over Logan White is another good result, I look for this kid to be good, place perhaps. Martinson going close with Coby Boyd is also a good result. Sulzer at 135- interesting. You have to imagine with Collin Palmer in the lineup, things are a little bit different. Sulzer probably gets the win at 130, and then bonuses at 135 make the score closer. That is probably a 7 point swing. Great showing by Graham, though, that can't be overstated how big that is, talk about making a statement.

Graham coaches were fired up on the sideline all night, Graham fans in the stands were fired up all night, and the Graham wrestlers were REALLY fired up on the mat. They were the confident aggressors in just about every match and simply took it to the Eagles.

Congratulations to St. Paris.

Meanwhile the Eagles, collectively, really looked like they were back on their heels. Probably a combination of things. It will be interesting to see how much they can stoke the fires for the MIT.

Quote from Raymond Calvert's post:

"were was palmer he hurt or some thing"

Coach Urbas was quoted in this morning's paper as having a big "No Comment" on the issue of specifically what injury kept Palmer out of the lineup.

Since both Roddy and Thomusseit were at 171 for Ironman, this result can't be attributed to going up a weight class.

With a 47 point win at Ironman (over Blair) and a crushing dual win over Eds, Graham is clearly in control of their destiny as far as finishing the season ranked #1. Can someone comment on the rest of their schedule? What are the big challenges they still face?

Colin has a sore back - rest is required to get him back on the mats.

There might be a Blair-Graham dual this year if Coach Buxton can make it happen .Coach jordan is open to it as he mentioned in his Flo interview after winning Ironman but Blair would need to come to them.

A Blair--Graham dual would be terrific but let's pose a hypothetical. Say that Blair wrestles Graham and wins a close dual. What counts more? A decisive win at Ironman? A dual win later in the year? What if lineup changes have occured that have altered both lineups in some fashion? It gets pretty tricky.

Hank,
Wouldnt a straight up dual determine the winner especially if it is toward the end of the season?

If you watched the Graham flo interviews before and after the Ironman you know beating Eds in a dual was one of their team goals but I can not believe how decisively they won it. Graham is amazing and should be for the next 2-3 years.

Hypothetically speaking:
Graham continues to roll, Blair does the same, and these two meet in a dual. Now, let's say that Coby Boyd has the flu. If Blair were to win a tight match--where Boyd's presence would likely have tipped the bout the other way--who ends up being your #1 ranked squad? What if both teams are missing a few starters? Lots of scenarios here that could cause a dual meet to go to Blair. Plus, Graham didn't edge Blair at the Ironman--they won it big. A tight dual win for Blair vs a solid Ironman title for Graham--why would a dual win automatically swing #1 ranking to Blair?

Sulzer bumped up for strategic cover purposes in the dual with Eds.

Roddy weighed in at 171 yesterday bumping up for the Graham dual. I'm not sure what the exact coaching mechanics were on that. Graham had the younger Thomussiet (Max) at 171.

What's up with Roddy? It seems like the Phillips loss has really rattled him. He looked flat yesterday in that match against Thomusseit. Makes Phillips victory of Thomusseit look that much better.

This is a down year for Eds. I wonder if they'll get challenged for the d1 state title? An injury or two, and it could happen. Wadsworth? Mass Perry? Does anyone have the horses to get it done?
