Discussion Topic: Was it NF for Ramos...and why wasn't it?
Kevin Petrella added to this discussion on March 25, 2013

Quote from Dan Cosimi's post:

"There amount of little things that go into whether or not Wrestler A wins a national championship is just shy of infinite.

Even if the action went in such a way that near-fall or a pin should have been called, the referee would have had to call it. He didn't.

Those are two distinctly different things.

The fact is, according to the referee, there was no near-fall points awarded because the action did not meet near-fall criteria. Obviously fans are going to debate that and that's what we're doing here.

The other fact is, even if you disagree with the fact that the action did not meet near-fall criteria, it's impossible to disagree with the fact that the referee did not call it. (Not that anybody is, but I'm pointing it out because it's an important part of the equation.)

Those are just a couple of the little things that go into winning and losing.

----------

*** EDIT: This is not directed at anyone on here but it is an opinion that people have expressed on other media. ***

Furthermore, those who do believe that Ramos got "robbed" of a win are cherry-picking one situation and are using that to put their own spin on the entirety of the match.

Let's say that in a dream world, Ramos did get awarded the near-fall points. Stieber would still have had the lead. Stieber and Ramos both still would have had plenty of time to do whatever it is they would have done.

Could it have propelled Ramos to win? It could have.

Could it have propelled Stieber to gain an even bigger lead on Ramos? It could have.

Could it have gone just the way it did? It could have.

Anything could have happened. But what could have happened is all hypothetical.

A near infinite amount of things could have happened to cause Ramos to win the match. They didn't.

Logan Stieber won his second consecutive national championship. That is a fact."

I haven't gotten on here for awhile, where's the "like" button?

And you know you could have said, "If Stieber doesn't break out of that cradle, he gets pinned and Ramos is a national champ," or, "If Hunter Stieber had escaped nine seconds earlier, his match would have gone into overtime." Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

thank you DanC, for that trite boring sanctimonious lecture reminiscent of something a father would have told his son while wagging his finger.

Legitimate discussion. Should be thankful that we have a referee in the know sharing his inside information; if you like the truth.

I am a Buckeye but I am cursed with this thing called objectivity.

The litmus test is always if the roles had been reversed is the call still the same. End of story.

Thank you Fred for sharing!

FloWrestling tweeted a pic of the scenario yesterday.

Logan responded: "@flowrestling if you watch it in slow mo, you could probably get a 5 count"

I thought that was hilarious, and perhaps, the tweet of the century.

Mark,
Little known fact: singlet on backwards is international distress signal-- like flag flown upside down-- means nation is in trouble, balance the deficit and bring our troops home. @BobP

Rex is exactly right and I definitely should have also stated those things in my post.

The post was in no way directed at or toward Fred. I love it that is sharing his opinion and officiating experience with us.

And this definitely a legitimate discussion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on whether or not they think near-fall criteria was met.

My post was more a reaction to the opinion of some (not on here) that Ramos got robbed of a win or that Stieber's win was in any way tainted.

With that in mind, I probably shouldn't have posted it in this topic because this is discussing whether or not it was near-fall, not debating the legitimacy of the win.

Dan,
your most recent point of view noted and entered into the congressional record by Jim Jordan, Repub, Ohio.

If u were a Kentucky resident you would be ordained a "Kentucky Colonel". As it stands you merely are the owner of the best forum in America-- for now that will have to be enough, your real reward will come in the next life. ...s/BobP

I believe the backwards singlet even made Yahoo.com. If you can't be famous, be infamous.
