Quote from Bob Preusse's post:

"open tourn like Midlands don't count, only scheduled ohio st u college events-- Midlands has post-college guys too, W & L's don't count on season record i believe.

Bo may have to share ow.net homer "not gonna lose" billing with Kyle Snyder. And Tomasello, Micah, those 2 perhaps gonna be in the "rarely lose" category. As viewers saw at Ironman, Micah has raised his level."

Is Bo going to win Midlands!?

Who can't he beat?

There's no one there he "can't beat", but there are some people there he might not beat every time. Massa comes to mind without looking at the preseeds.

Moore from Iowa and Yates from Michigan are alos there. I personally think Yates presents the touhjest task for Bo at this juncture. Just a style thing.
I think Bojo very well could defeat any of these guys, but he wouldn't be a heavy favorite and to win 3 or 4 toss up matches in a row goes against conventional 50/50 rational, which is why i'm cautiously optimistic.

By cautiously optimistic I meant someone may make it to the 2nd period with him!

Marky Mark:

Is it possible that BoJo will move up the stalking food chain, usurping the mighty TR's position?

Mark:

Since the voice of reality (Hank) isn't posting today, the best way to respond to your comment is to 'repost' a comment that Hank make about my optimism towards BoJo back prior to the Clarion Open!

Re: BoJo

let's not forget how everyone went nuts over Sponseller when he hit the ground running as a true frosh. He had a very fine career overall--and placed once at nationals.

Let's get a few looks at these guys before making pronouncements about "lack of respect" or "pinning throughout."

Incidentally, I'm on record as saying that BoJo would do very well even as a true frosh. But not a national champ nor a dominating pinner. At least I don't think so. And Tomasello is a few years away. My opinions...

These comments are still quite appropriate 2 months later.

imo Tomasello no "is a few years away", rather next year-- at Ironman, coach Rosselli said "we know what we got" with him. Enuf said.

from ow.net Feb 2008:

"Discussion Topic: Dustin Schlatter
Bob Preusse added to this discussion on February 5, 2008

i think Dustin shut down his offense last season--- in fact i commented on it all season that i thought he could lose to one of 2 guys who were great on top, Stornilio of Oklahoma and Gillespie of Edinboro--- but many told me as long as he was winning no problem. Well Gillepsie got the first takedown on Dustin and made it stand up at NCAAs.

some said Dustin had a knee injury that effected him--- could be, i don't know, i cant comment.

this season he hasnt wrestled much, has been out with a hamstring injury --- i read on a Minnesota website recently he is expected to still be out a "few weeks" with this injury--- could be in that loaded 149 class it doesnt bode well to be coming back late in the season after a long time off.

I hope you are right, Bob. Either way, I think that we are going to get a good indicator at the Midlands, because the top 4 or 5 in that field at 125 are tough nationally.

Clark (IA), Gillman (IA), Delagado (ILL), and the kid from Wyoming are all tough wrestlers. It will be interesting to see how Nathan can compete with athletes at that level.

Does anyone know what the story is with Hunter, since he was not listed in the pre-seeds? Is he not wrestling at the Midlands? Or is he just a late entry or not given a pre-seed (which wouldn't make much sense)?

I though this would be a great barometer to see how Hunter matches up with the elite at 149!

yes Pat, very nice field-- i did say "next year", however u r right, Midlands will be indicator of future.

i believe as of today Tomasello has shown to be superior to Roberts though.

It amazes me for all he did in high school versus great comp in ohio, at Ironman & Beast, and in fargo- with his well known dedication and work ethic- that there are still doubters.

but we will see. He hasnt done it, yet.

(Pat, no "v of r" kudos for 2008 ?!)

Yeah, Bob, you had to dig along way to find that one.

At least your not losing your memory yet in your 'mature' years!
