Abounader has quietly had a very good true frosh campaign. Today he avenged a SV loss to #9 Dudley. He beat Courts in their dual meet match with a very savvy counter attack to Courts' back. At this point, I think he is flat out better than a Kenny Courts who rarely wrestles with any energy or sense of urgency. We should find out tomorrow in the conso semis.
In any event, congrats to Domenic Abounader for having a great year thus far. I think he's a strong round of 12 candidate who just needs one decent update of a Jake Swartz or Ryan Loder type guy to be a true frosh All-American. Good luck!

True. I thought his initial TD and NFs against Courts were suspect but he has proven he is capable of hanging with, and even defeating a good number of wrestlers in the 184lbs field.
Best of luck throughout the season and his career.

Will Courts get his act together and beat Abounader today? This is his time to shine and the Buckeyes could use the points. Just get it done!

like Abounader its nice to mention how other Ohio kids are doing, Marcus Scheidel from st Eds at Columbia has 23-9 record at 157 as true freshman.
His Columbia teammate Angelo Amenta from Oregon Clay is starting too at 133 with 16-7. don't know his year but Brad Wukie starting for U of Penn at 174, he was University School i think.
Of course outstanding true frosh Solon's Anthony Collica starting & winning for Okla St cowboys at 149.

A couple things:
1) Abounader beats Courts 7-0. Rounding into shape at the right time.
2) Good bringing up Schiedel, Bob. Schiedel knocked off Cornell's Brian Realbuto yesterday! That's a very big win for him.

Scheidel is having an awesome EIWA with wins over Realbuto and Palacio. Wukie also had a nice win in the semis.

Abounader knocks off Kevin Steinhaus, outwrestling him the whole match. Takedown early. 2 NF in the second period.
Very impressive. #peakwhenitmatters most

Abounader def one that got away, knew that a year ago. Looking back what a star-atudded group: Bo, Abounader, Tomasello, Bright, Collica, Heil, Scheidel. who'd i overlook?
congrats Ryan Taylor 125 from SPG & U of Wisc, only lost to Megaludis 4-3 in semis then beat Cory Clark of Iowa for 3rd. -- and 157 Isaac Jordan also of SPG and U of Wisc, lost to St John by TB in semis then took 3rd.
Nick Sulzer of st Eds & Virginia won the ACC 165, could be a 2 seed, he is unbeaten i think.

Pat was wrong the other day when he said Schiedel beat Realbuto and Palacio, who are on the same team. Schiedel beat Realbuto and Napoli.
I do think Sulzer will be the 2 seed. Caldwell lost to Moore (and Taylor a couple times, not that you can hold that against him). Sulzer just has the one loss.
