Here are my picks:

125: Garrett--Hard to pick against Delgado but Garrett just seems to be the biggest, strongest guy in the field

133: Colon--He has had the best season of anyone outside of Logan, Ruth, Taylor and Howe.

141: Stieber--His finals will be the semi with Retherford.

149: Maple--He seems to have gotten himself straightened out.

157: Green--best pure wrestler at the weight.

165: Taylor--Only question is whether or not he'll even face a serious challenge

174: Howe--"I bet I can make you talk Indian talk..." (joke from my childhood)

184: Ruth--What the talking dog says when asked who was the greatest baseball player of all time (another joke from my childhood)

197: Heflin--His trap match will be second round against Stanford. If he gets past Scherer, he's going to the finals and winning.

285: Nelson--Most great heavies are dull. Mocco, Konrad, etc...We were spoiled by Tommy R.

I like all those picks, and they make me question some of the picks I made in our pool.

If I were to question any of your pics hank, they would be;

149: Maple-- I think he's the one "favorite" that consistently puts himself in risky positions/situations, that could lead to an upset loss.

157: Green-- This is a weight that I just couldn't find a wrestler that made feel like he was better than the rest of the field. I think there might be 4 or 5 guys that could win here.

Leo: They're all guesses. And, of course, the wrestlers I picked to be champs adds up well past 1000 so it's not representative of whom I picked for our pool.

I entered the InterMat thing a couple days ago and every pick was the same as yours except for 125. I took Delgado.

Steve: Makes me feel good since you were last year's contest champ.

Yep, the pool represents the best pool of scorers while staying below the salary cap of 1000 points. Totally different game. Has nothing to do with picking the winners of the tournament. It will be fun to see how the pool shakes out.

Hank:
This just goes to show the unpredictability of Div. 1 NCAA Wrestling.

You picked excellent, well-calculated, predictions, and only got a 40% grade. - It reminds me of my college physics class.

Yep... And why did you have to bring up college physics anyway? Only C grades I ever got in undergrad.

Pat: I got 30%. Were you giving me extra credit for trying?

an age old tale, indeed -- througout recorded history, losers have consoled each other while winners say, "more horseradish on my corn beef please."
