Wanted to give props to this kid. I had the opportunity to coach him for two years and have been working with him the past two since I switched teaching jobs.

He wrestled at NHSCA senior nationals this weekend and was Runner Up to 4x California Placer (8/2/2/1) and Stanford recruit. He lost 4-3 in OT (gave three escapes and a stall point and had only offensive points throughout match).

He has come along way since his Freshman Year. He started wrestling in middle school and was a 2x OHSAA placer. I do believe his skills will transfer to the next level and will be a great addition to which ever college picks him up.

I have not seen many kids that are wired and driven like him. This young man will be one to look for in the coming years.

Is James going to wrestle in college?

Hank he will be wrestling in college. He LOVES the sport. He is constantly working to get better. He is always trying to challenge himself. As stated before he is wired differently than most high school aged kids. He is the definition of a mat rat.

He has huge fans in Columbus. We got to know a few of his teammates while up at Medina. After watching his elbow pass, my brother was an instant fan. My brother also loved his coach's Browns hat.

Where is he going?

Hank,

He is undecided. He has been in contact with a few schools since Fargo last year (he lost his AA match). He is doing some visits now.

Sounds like the kind of kid that would make any room better. Hope he shows up at OSU and makes AA. We've seen that kind of story in the past.

I thought he was linked to CSU at one point?

He can go D1 but would be a good recruit for any of Ohio's four D2 programs.

Just watched James finals match on Flo. He was winning 3-2 and got hit with a terrible stall call to send it into OT. That said--he needs to have an OT plan. He didn't and it cost him.

Good kid with lots of upside. With better officiating he would have won the title over a CA state champ.

Hank,
Can you post a link to the match. I am having zero luck.
Thanx
