Discussion Topic: Is Tom Ryan a Great Wrestling Coach?
Casey Talbott added to this discussion on July 9, 2014

Is it anymore awkard than a Christian would feel when his non-Christian coach use vulgar language/tells vulgar jokes? Why are there no concerns for these young men -- not by you specifically Bruce, just to anyone?[/quote]

I wish I knew how to post the clapping hands emoticon...

I believe he is evolving into a great coach.

Brady: I'll admit, when Hellickson was exiting, I wanted Borelli. I thought we he had accomplished at that point was awesome. tNDG was a bit of an unknown to me when I compared the two. I remember being able to recognize CMU from NCAAs, but would not have been able to tell you one thing about Hofstra.

Needless to say, at this point, I'm glad I was wrong. (And that's not (intended to be) a slam on Borelli at all.)

I think Ryan's best job of coaching has been what he got out of Heflin. Heflin didn't come in as a national elite wrestler but look what he did with him. He became a 4x NCAA qualifier, 3x AA and was 1 second from the national title.

Look at what he's done compared to Hellickson here. How many top 10 finishes since the 2006-2007 season have the Buckeyes had compared to before. He is certainly getting more out of guys than people had done in the past.

For my money J Rob could be the best coach out there in terms of getting the most out of the wrestlers.

Very valid! Over the past decade, he has probably been the best D1 coach year in and year out. And, I was still afraid of that guy even when he didn't have a knee :-)
