Discussion Topic: How Many Ohio College Wrestlers Can Win NCAA Titles in 2015?
Hank Kornblut added to this discussion on August 15, 2014

Could be a big year for the state. Let's look at all divisions.

Ohio State: Logan, Hunter, BoJo, Snyderman
(I'm sure everyone wants to mention other guys and I hope they're proven correct. But right now these are the guys you'd expect based on all factors to have a legit shot).

Kent: Ian Miller

Does OU have anyone?

Notre Dame: The Undefeated Joey Davis. Who else am I overlooking in that talented room?

What about Lake Erie, Ashland or Findlay?

Anyone in D3?

BG: All the CB, Pastrami and Brisket you could ever want will be yours when you win it.

Labry is a beast...still can't believe that kid never won a state title.

As far as DI is concerned, I think several Ohio based wrestlers COULD win a title. I think one WILL.

If I had to pick a wrestler other than Logan Stieber, it would be Ian Miller, but that's a bear unless he's back at 157.

On the d3 front, there are several guys who will be competing for a title.

Jesse Gunter, Baldwin Wallace, is from Akron Coventry and placed 3rd at 125 last season.

Jeremy Border, Mount Union, is from Caldwell and placed 3rd at 133 last season.

Collin McDermitt, Heidelberg, is from Lima Shawnee and was an NCAA qualifier, with wins over several all americans including Border.

Dan Mirman, John Carroll, is from Medina Highland and finished 6th last season.

Jon Garrison, Mount Union, is from Copley and finished 6th last season.

Cody Lovejoy, Ohio Northern, is from Allen East and finished 7th last season.

Don't overlook Nick Sulzer. Whatever weight between 157 and 165 that Dieringer doesn't go will have a good opening for an Ohio kid, Miller and Isaac Jordan at 157, Sulzer and Bo Jordan at 165. Those guys will all place high, along with Pierce Harger.

All true but that's not the question. Wanted to talk strictly about NCAA title contenders attending Ohio colleges.

I know this is a long shot, but Phil Davis from OU. He did beat J'Den Cox early in the season but never seemed to recover from his injury in the latter part of the season.

Phil Davis was from PSU. You're thinking of Phil Wellington.
