Looking at InterMat's high school rankings, I got the impression Ohio was a little down. So I ran some #'s and overall they have the 3rd most ranked wrestlers.

PA - 37
NJ - 28
OH - 27
IL - 26
OK - 18

So then I decided check the # of top end wrestlers. For a lack of better criteria, I just decided to define top-end as the top 5 in each weight class. Ohio not so well represented, tied for 13th with 1 (Assad).

PA - 13, OK - 7, IL - 7, CA - 6, NJ - 6, MN - 5, IA - 4, MD - 3, MI - 3, FL - 3, GA - 2, NY - 2

Not really sure what importance this has, if any, just found it interesting.

Typical top 5 as a state.

Thanks for the info though. I like it.

Ohio had the 2nd most placers at Super 32 behind PA. That was nice to see.

But until St Eds returns to form (or someone else steps up to that level), Ohio will remain down.

Ohio is currently in a down cycle in terms of top level talent. I would expect those numbers to grow as the year goes on. Ohio's freshman class this year is ridiculous in terms of talent I expect to see some in there of being ranked.

The weight class ranking total numbers will be pretty static throughout the year at the top.

I just don't see the top end talent in Ohio during the 2014-15 campaign. This senior class is not overly good, the underclass groups are pretty good (in context of an elite state).

ohio doing ok, in recent years consistently #2 behind PA in Div 1 college AAs & NCAA Div I quals -- and that wont change from how things look this season.

overall the last 20 years, using a basket of measuring sticks, ohio the # 2 state in developing wrestling talent. ..s/BobP

Just clarifying.
