Wow, a couple of tough draws for Josh and Mark. Josh would have to beat Green in the quarters. Then he would get Ness. Mark has archnemisis Evans in the quarters then Brown. Nice draw for Kenny though. First Pfarr then Brooks. I think that is doable for Kenny. Maybe five finalists?

I Love the seeding here. Delgado has not been wrestling well since he has returned. This would be Nate 1st top 5 type win. That would go a long way towards his confidence with Gilman and at NCAAs.

This is NOT an easy bracket. It will not be a cake walk to the semis for Johnni (and you all know I'm a Johnni homer). I really want to see him wrestle Dardanes. Let's hope that he is recharged with the brief break and has that nutrition issue fixed. This is a meatgrinder. He'll need everything he can give to place top 4. And that's not a lack of confidence in Johnni. This class is good.

Logan and Dardanes in the finals. Remember, Logan was up 8-1 in the 2nd. He won't run out of steam this time. I'm not saying he will major Dardanes. I am saying it won't be 9-8.

I like Anthony Ashnault. Keep an eye on him.

This class worries me, only because Hunter's health and the impact of it is such a mystery. A healthy Hunter is lights out top 2. If he tweeks that injury in the 1st round.... :-/ I hate that Hunter should see Tsirtsis in the semis, but I'm sure he doesn't care. I guess we have to find out either way. If he's 4ht and healthy, I'm cool with it. Just qualify and be healthy. He can keep gaining wind over the next 2 weeks, which should be his only real obstacle to a title run IF he's healthy.

I don't know what to think here. Josh could wrestle lights-out and finish 4th. He could come out flat and not get an AQ. He would get an at large either way. I just want to see some consistency. I 4th place finish bodes well for the Buckeyes at NCAAs. It says he is ready to battle all the way through the tourney. Though I don't really question that. I know he is.

I think we're all pretty sure what's about to go down here. I will root for Bo because he is wrestling for the Buckeyes. Otherwise, I'm on the Jordan bandwagon on both sides of the bracket.

Mark is going to get in. I think a lot about the stuff his dad said over the past couple of weeks. It concerns me. I want to see Mark being able to give it his all. I hope those things don't hinder him. He absolutely can get 5th and has shown he can tangle with any of the top 5.

If Tav is healthy, I think he can place 6th. Top 4 is a complete crap shoot. Lawson is solid at 5. I think Tav gets an at large if needed. He wrestles well in tournaments. He'll be fine.

With regard to Hunter, the key for him is to qualify. He can default to 6th if need be. I wouldnt put any more stress on that elbow than necessary. Keaton Anderson was 6th at BT's as a senior after getting hurt in the semis. Made it to the NCAA semis two weeks later and nearly beat Ryan Bertin in that match. Ended up 6th wrestling on one leg.

Stole this from the Iowa forum.

This is how the scoring looks if all the seeds hold and win the matches they are supposed to. It only takes in account of advancement points and place points. No way to predict bonus points.

Iowa 120.5
Ohio St 118.5
Minnesota 97
Nebraska 82.5
Penn St 81
Illinois 77
Wisconsin 75
Michigan 66.5
Northwestern 55.5
Rutgers 29.5
Purdue 29
Indiana 12.5
Maryland 5.5
Michigan St 0

Michigan St is not a typo they have nobody seeded in the top 8. Only top 8 get awarded points. Places ninth and lower are only for national qualifying they score no team points at Big Tens.

125: I wish Nathan had Gilman before Delgado. Cagey vet may not win NCAAs but he may BIGs.

133: Already said I'm all in on JDJ. Maybe not BIGs. May be easier to advance farther at NCAAs depending on seeds.

141: still think Port is his toughest matchup. Like last year, Logan rolls from here on out. Enjoy the ride. Logie Bear for Governor. Or President. Even better, TOSU AD.

149: Hunter is #1 if healthy; agree with Hank: just get to NCAAs.

157: I want to see Demas and Martinez. Obviously may not happen but he could give him fits.

165: for those with brothers, remember beating each other up in living rooms and breaking couches? And bleeding? And then feeling bad afterwards? Ugh. Could they both make the finals and get the flu?

174: if Martin wrestles to seed it is a victory.

184: Courts can win this.

197: his learning curve is sharp and quick. Snyder schools the vets.

285: see 174.

No better time of year. . .does Cardale wrestle?

I was hoping Nate would get Gilman, who was the one wrestler that Nate didn't get a takedown against. But Gilman didn't take Nate down either. I'm predicting that Nate WILL take Gilman down next time, at least once. I'd love to be able to see if that is enough. But Nate will have to get by Delgado first.

Couldn't have been more pleased with Hunter's draw (other than a first round buy).

I like Logan's draw. If seeds hold, I think Dardanes will have a tougher time with Abidin, who can be funky at times, than Logan will have with Rodriques. Watch out for Ashnualt to be the dark horse at 141, he's pretty good for a freshman. All in all I liked the Bucks seeds. Time to step up, and they will have the "home field" advantage. When I tried to get tickets about 4 weeks ago, the 4 designated Buckeye sections were sold out. I had to settle for the next section over, so I think there will be a big Buckeye contingent.

My thoughts:

125 – Nate disposes of his first round opponent with a tech/pin. He then majors Youtsey . While I think Nate is going to outplace Delgado at nationals, I am worried about Delgado simply diving under every one of Nate’s shot attempts. Hopefully he’s been working on that situation a lot. I think Nate gets the one takedown he needs and advances to the finals. I think that Conaway takes out Lambert and gives Gilman everything he can handle in the semis. I’ll take Gilman by 1. Nate gets his revenge and wins his first B1G championship.

133 – JDJ takes out Yenter and sets up a rematch with Clark. Unfortunately, I see Clark taking this one. That drops JDJ into the consi bracket, where he likely gets Richards or Alexander. I think it’s Alexander and I think JDJ gets revenge. He then likely gets Bruno, who I think will be rusty from time off. JDJ advances to consi semis for a rematch with Gulibon. I think JDJ gets the win at home and then takes 3rd over Clark.

141 – Logan pins Lawrence this time, then techs Ashnault, then beats Dardanes by 6+.

149 – Hunter gets a first round warmup that he wins by major. He then gets Beitz again. That match was closer than the score even indicated, as Beitz was in on the ankle a few times and Hunter outscrambled him. I think Hunter gets the 7-4 decision and moves on to face Tsirtsis. If Hunter can finish in the first period he wins the match. If he doesn’t, it goes to OT and I favor Tsirtsis. I’m a huge homer, but I have to give the edge to the returning national champ. Hunter then defaults to 6th.

157 – Demas starts with a match against Blanton. Blanton beat Visconti 13-7 in the dual. I think Demas wins 5-2. He then gets Green, and I’ll take Green. Demas drops to likely face Ruschell. Demas advances to take on Kelly. I think Demas pulls out another 1 point win. He then gets Murphy. I’ll take Murphy and put Demas in the 5th place match where he wins.

165 – Jordan gets a bye, and then pins Wanzek and Harger. He gets cousin Zeke in the finals, and I think he pulls out a 5-4 decision.

174 – Martin opens with a close win over Jackson, and then falls to Evans. That likely gives him Snook or Bakuckus. I think he advances over either. Martin gets another win over Welch and then falls to Storley. Martin takes 6th.

184 – Courts beats Sliga and then gets another win over Pfarr. I’ll take Brooks in the semis. Courts can win this but I can’t pick him. I think he sees Abounader (who gets upset by Reyes) and finally gets his win. He takes 4th.

197 – Snyder gets a bye and then a tougher than expected win over McCall. He gets revenge on Burak in the semis and takes out Schiller again in the finals.

285 – Nick has a TOUGH first round match with Smith. Smith beat Gordon 5-2, so this will be close. I think Nick squeaks out a victory before going down to Medberry. He then gets Myers or Black. Honestly, I think he gets by either, but I’d rather see Black. He then gets Telford or Lawson, and, quite frankly, loses to each. That puts him in the 7th place match. I think he takes 8th.
