Feeling for Ian Miller. That's so ridiculous although coaches have got to keep track of the score IMO. Of course I felt that way cuz it was high school and mistakes happen a lot. Perhaps D1 level is different?

Quote from Mark Niemann's post:

"I think he will. And will be just shy of killing someone."

Hopefully he doesn't slam someone and get DQed. I know I'd be at that point right now. Would be sad/funny if in the end he wins every match he wrestled at the 2015 NCAA tournament but finished 3rd

They ought to re-wrestle, like they did back in 1995 with Baer and Harris: (I remember Harris almost escaping to win in the re-wrestle and getting pinned.)

I hadn't thought of it that way. You ruined my day a little more. Jeez, are you related to my ex-wife?

Someone has to keep track. I knew something was off with the tie at the end of regulation; that's why I asked about another stall call. The KSU coaches were at the table before OT started while the Cornell coaches had their wrestler at the center of the mat. I wouldn't expect something like this during a regular season match, let alone NCAA's? During the MAC basketball tournament, games were delayed again and again to make sure that every tenth of a second was accounted for when time wasn't even at issue. Yet, wrestling can't get the score right? Ugh.

Painful way for JDJ to lose his match. Winning by 2 w/ 17 seconds left and gets hit for a 5 point move.

Bucks have had a good day but not a great one. They need to do well in the semis or someone--Iowa or Mizzou--is likely to overtake them.

Flo and TheMat are picking up on the Miller controversy. Should we bump this topic to its own thread? Between the Miller slam and the Wheeler tweet, KSU sure knows how to get embroiled in wrestling drama.

From the KSU web site:

Although Kent State coaches verbally questioned the score and got a response from the official after the third period, the NCAA contends that a challenge flag needed to be raised.

"The NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee met to discuss the scoring error in the match between Brian Realbuto (Cornell) and Ian Miller (Kent State), and our determination was that there is a protocol in place for coaches to challenge errors in a match via the coach's challenge (Rule 3.21.2 b). Kent State had challenges remaining and did not raise the challenge flag to declare an error in the match, therefore the resulting Cornell victory stands."

Matt Whisenant – chair of the 2015 NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee

This Miller situation is ridiculous.

I used to run track, and this is as if the person who was deemed the winner of the race had run one less lap than everyone else and there was video to prove it, yet they continued to insist that this person was the winner since a challenge flag hadn't been raised.

Of course, in track, there is a 30-minute protest period after each race so these things can be addressed, which seems a bit more fair than requiring the coach to instantly protest when he himself may not have all the information when there is a flurry of scoring.

Bo goes down 5-1 to Dieringer. Couldn't get those takedowns. Fingers crossed for 184 and 197.
