He didn't need to. The kid will get handfulls of offers and even more interest collegiately, perhaps he felt he was better served training with Lance in their basement- it's done him well so far.

Some kids just don't want to wrestle over the summer. It is a grind out there. He probably felt that he was better off just lifting and training with Lance at Ohio State.

Jason Welch didn't go I think he'll be fine come college offers.

Though, to be fair, Welch does have a Junior AA to his credit and did go last year (had a 4-2 type record with losses to Epperly and one of the other big names).

I'm thinking Collin may just dislike FS. However, he's fine with the Cadet AA last summer, multiple state titles, and high level wins across the board.

Fargo is invaluable for those that don't have the quality wins and/or platforms of positive exposure in their seasons.

Maybe...
- He wants a break?
- He wants to enjoy being a teenager and all that stuff?
- He just doesn't like Freestyle?
- He doesn't want to go through all of it and pay for all of it when he doesn't have to?

Collin Palmer is and will continue to be a great wrestler with or without competing at a tournament in North Dakota.

Dan:

I know many wrestlers that don't like folkstyle, but they still wrestle it to be state champions. In high school there are two events that most wrestlers point to as the best tournament to rate their ability (The USAW Junior Nationals Freestyles and the NWCA High School Nationals in that order.) If you win one of those tournaments you are one of the best against the best in the USA. I think USA Wrestling made a big mistake adding the Cadet Nationals to the Junior Nationals; they should be held on seperate dates so the Junior Nationals remains the premier high school event. In the past look at how many underclass wrestlers won or AA'd. (re: Fried, etc., and there is a long list.)
