You can never read too much into wrestle-offs, but it does look like Cody Burcher is the favorite to wrestle 165 for the Bucks this year.
I liked his competitive spirit last year, but I hope he does well going up two weight classes?

I was a little suprised by the 285 match. Caldwell was a 2x champ in high school at 285. Traub was a runnerup last season at 195.

Hank, remember that Traub was a runner up to Darmstadt. I use to coach a summer dual team, and Traub showed up to the circleville duals once needing a team. He filled a spot for us and I can tell you that kid is goooooooooood. He could be a solid heavyweight for the bucks in 2-3 years if he puts on some size.

Glad to see Rodriguez made 125. He looked good. Cleary needs a RS year, IMO. Nice luxury to let Pletcher also RS. Hayes showed what a good RS season will do for someone, he looked impressive. Wasn't crazy about Jake having that leg bandaged so heavily, hope it's nothing serious.

Maybe Coach Ryan went after him with a stick for recording his JDJ on that cell tower?

The only weight that's an obvious problem is 165. I've always liked Burcher but he really struggled to beat the larger, less experienced Cleary. Burcher would be ok at 157 but looks undersized at 165.
I liked what I saw of Cleary. He's raw but was constantly on the attack. He seemed to have a good plan for Burcher and he executed well. Would not surprise me to see him in the lineup this season simply because he's got the size and disposition to take the mat. Having said that--his offense needs a lot of work. Too basic and predictable for the level of comp. he'd face. Ideally, he'll redshirt with Burcher and Kresevic doing the best they can.
If Cleary develops, he and Romero could be the future at 165/174 for several years.

I know this has been discussed, but I promised myself if I graded 3 papers, I could post my thoughts.
As a fan, I really want Tomasello at 125. I was also part of the drop BoJo/start MyMar fan club last year, so this is consistent with my fan ideals and how I always coached: I like the team result over the individual result. At times, I know it screws the individual, and I know that sucks and some will disagree, but it's how I like to view wrestling.
If everyone GOES
125- Tomasello (top 2)
133- Pletcher (top 8/ R12)
141- Hayes (top 8/R12)
149- Mick Jordan (top 6)
157- Ryan (top 8/R12)
165- Burcher (NQ)
174- Jordan (top 2)
184- Martin (top 3)
197- Moore (top 8/R12)
285- Snyder (champ)
With Tomasello up, you lose up to ten points, IMO. That matters.
