At this point you have to hold Bo out until he is 100%. Winning in March is the goal. IMO, he will have to be 100% to beat Hall or Valencia.

It's that time of year when I can't get wrestling out of my thoughts. Lots of number crunching and nerding out on hypotheticals.
After looking at lineups and past results, etc, this is what randomness I have come up with.
I think Penn St scores 125 this year. Slightly more than last year, which surprised me because at first glance I thought last year's squad might be better because of the losses of Megaludis and McIntosh.
I think it makes more sense to look at scoring potential rather than head to head match ups. Let me explain...

Snyder v Zain- Slight edge to Zain in bonus pts
Nato v Nolf- again slight edge to Nolf due to bonus
Bo v Bo- I think Jordan can easily outscore Nickal
Myles v Mark Hall- we need the best MM to outscore this superstar freshman
Kollin v Suriano- very close
Mic v Joseph- again very close
Pletcher v Nevills- this is where we kind of fall apart as far as scoring potential compared to PSU. It is a lot to ask of Pletcher to score as many team points as the probable AA Nevills
Ryan v Gulibon- if Jake wrestles like last year he can outscore Gulibon
Jose v McCutheon- Depends on draws.
Burcher v Carpenter?- we need all the points we can get! that means 10 strong and Burcher picking up a point at NCAAs

Thoughts?

Last year vs. this year.

125- Nico was champ and had 0 bonus wins. I think Nico is better then Suriano but Suriano will score at least 1 bonus win and probably finish 2nd.

133-Conoway took 7th and this year they won't qualify.

141- Guilbon won 2 matches one via TF. I think he wins a few more and could be a low AA

149 - Zain had 3pin 1TF and 1Major and finished 1st. I think he does the same on his way to a 2nd title. Maybe one less bonus win.

157-Nolf 1pin 2TF 1MD and finished 2nd. I think he does the same but wins it this year.

165-Morelli won 2 matches last year and Joseph will finish 4-8 range.

174- Nickal only had 1MD bonus win and finished 2nd. He is wrestling better this year but still thinks his best finish is 2nd but will probably get more then 1 bonus win. Hall will score a few bonus wins and finish 1-8.

184 McCutcheon went 0-2 last year. Nickal wilI finish 2nd or 3rd and add a few bonus matches along the way. think he is low AA this year at 197

197 McIntosh finished 2nd with 2MD and 1pin. McCutheon will be a 5-8 AA at best

285. Nevilli didn't qualify and could finish 3-8 and will probably pick up at least one bonus win.

I think the best the Bucks can finish is 2nd.

If current rankings translated into NCAA placements, the Bucks would have 3 champs and 3 more AA's. That probably wouldn't win it but it would be a historic team performance. Personally, I'd be thrilled.

If all the guys ranked 1st win out every champ would be undefeated. Has that ever happened before?

125-Gillman 23-0
133-Nato 15-0
141- Heil 23-0
149- Zain 18-0
157- Nolf18-0
165- Martinez 23-0
174- Bo 11-0 / Valencia 31-0
184- Dean 25-0 / Nickal 17-0
197- Cox 19-0
285.-Snyder 9-0

I could see someone upsetting Heil since he wrestle so many closes matches.

Has Z Valenica officially moved to 184? He's wrestled his last few matches at that weight and that is where SHP has him ranked this week.

He has wrestled most of his matches at 174 this year but has wrestled a few at 184 but I believe he will be a 174 for post season.

anyone know how to find out his "weigh in" weight? Because under current NCAA rules it will take approximately 3 years to cut from 184 to 174.

Nope. Definitely never happened before. Probably unlikely to happen this year.

I think 125,141,165,174&197 are all possible losses. I don't think Gilman beats Suriano two more times, Same goes for Imar and Massa. 141 & 174 are deep weights. I really think Cox is vulnerable after a long year of wrestling. I don't get the feeling he loves the grind as much as guys like Snyder or Nato.

Just playing devil's advocate, but isn't this exactly why he will win yet again? The guy is used to winning the tight matches and is comfortable getting his hand raised even when it isn't a blowout.

I know it won't happen that way, I know several of these guys won't win it, but it's hard to see any of these guys losing. Not only have they undefeated, they all have past records that point to winning the championship this year, and they've all beaten their next closest rival. The only place where that isn't the case is where we have two undefeateds. Maybe 174 with Hall as the wild card? But can anyone see anyone other than Dean or Nickal winning 184? People talk about Cox being vulnerable? Martinez? I don't see it.

I agree he always comes out on top I just think with that style his margin of error is razor thin.

I think Cox will be a different wrestler come tourney time. I could see a couple of guys potentially being beat in conference tourney but winning NCAA.

Suriano could beat Gillman at B10
Hall could beat Bo at B10
