The American style/philiosophy is awesome right now. Snyder, Taylor, Stieber, Burroughs. They are all attacking and in their opponent's face at all time. The Russians could hardly stand up by the second period. Very fun to watch.
Taylor absolutely broke his guy!

This current incarnation of freestyle plays to our strengths--conditioning and takedowns. Nice to see the USA doing so well.

Can someone explain how the team scoring works in this competition?

I think this it.
A win without your opponent scoring is 3-0
A win with your opponent scoring is 3-1
A tech without your opponent Scoring is 4-0
A tech with your Opponent Scoring is 4-1
Pin is 5-0 no matter what the score when the fall happens.

Saw this on another site:
The dual with Azerbaijan will be at 1:45a EST on Friday 2/17 (Iran is 8.5hrs ahead of USA EST). So you night owls will get a chance to take it in.
Here's the link to an article about the match with Russia (some say this is like their C squad with some of their A's hanging matside)
http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling...ats-Russia-6-2
Iran is undefeated and hasn't lost an individual match to finish at 16-0. They take on Mongolia in Rd. 3 so they will most likely be 24-0 heading into the finals.
Hopefully the USA can beat Azerbaijan who's also 2-0 which will set up a showdown vs Iran tomorrow at 8:45am EST

Magomedkhabib KADIMAGOMEDOV (Russia)
Pretty good name. 12 letters of the alphabet and 27 letters total. I want a name like that.
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.......... is a small town on the island of Anglesey off the northwest coast of North Wales. I have been there. Its a real name. My favorite.

i see Jeff Buxton on coaching staff there, he was a giant in high school wrestling and not just because Blair could recruit.-- the guy was a super coach and its being recognized in this country at the very highest levels.
i am thinking, imagine how hard it is to travel all the way to a place like Iran, the pressure of representing your country, so far away, a strange place, strange food, strange (to us) culture, to compete at that level !!?? Wow, hats off.
