I was perusing the NCAA championship brackets that are on wrestlingstats.com and came across a wrestler who placed 6th at nationals without actually winning a single match.
Anyone want to hazard a guess on who it was?

"Winning" a single match or "wrestling" a single match?
Was there a 7th place awarded/wrestled?

His first match was a bye. He was pinned in his next match and then his next two opponents medical forfeited, then he lost his next two matches.
There was no 7th and 8th places awarded that year.

"Rudy Isom"

Close, but not quite. Isom did win one match at NCAA's. It was Bob Campbell of Indiana in 1964 at 130 lbs.

Thanks Bruce. Interesting stuff. 9 minute matches and follow your leader bracketing.
Lots of familiar names and schools that no longer have wrestling
