This week begins the US Open. There will be several past, current or future Buckeyes/RTC wrestlers competing. US Open winner will get a place in the finals of the team trials for a best of 3, unless there are current medalist at the weight, then the medalist automatically sits in the finals of the team trials and the US Open at that weight is basically just for grins.
At the Senior level, we all know we have Kyle and Logan already sitting in the finals for the trials. We also have Nate going 57kg, Hunter will be competing at 70kg, Vic Avery will represent the OhioRTC at 86kg.
At Juniors Heinselman will be competing at 50kg, Pletcher will be at 63kg, Singletary will be at 96kg, David Carr while not a Buckeye is certainly of interest at 70kg.
I don't know if Kollin Moore still qualifies for Juniors or not. Not sure if any other recruits, alum or current Buckeyes are wrestling. If anyone has insight, I am curious. Romero? Mattox? I imagine the Decaturs will be at Cadets again, TBD.
***UPDATE*** Kollin will be taking finals on Friday and won't be in Vegas but does plan on competing in trials. Also, JDJ will be competing at 61kg.

US Open seeds are out and I can't wait for wrestling to begin. There are gonna be so many great matches at the Junior and Senior levels today and tomorrow! Wrestling begins at 12 eastern time at will stream live on Flo. I hope I'm not the only one interested in this.

Nate drew the 4 seed and will wrestle Megaludis in the quarters and Tony Ramos in the semis if seeds hold. I have a feeling Ramos will get beat by Jesse Delgado though. I see a Tomasello v Nahshon Garrett final.

Nate Jr. I believe. David is not old enough to compete at the Senior level.

Nato with 2 TFs and has Megaludis in 1/4s looking good but untested. Hasn't given up a point yet.
JDJ took out top seed Jayson Ness!
Pletcher and Carr both won easily in JRs.

Jayson Ness was the only American to give Logan a reasonably competitive match at last World Team Trials. That is a big upset. Nice job JDJ.

Just watched Burroughs sort of muddle his way past Mike Moreno. He did not look good.

Nate over Mega 5-4. Good match. American refs struggle with freestyle rules.

What a great match between Dieringer and Anthony Valencia. Ringer ended up winning after back and forths and bad officiating.
Also, Nick Heflin beat Gabe Dean

Didn't see it but plenty of commenters in cyberspace feel Nate got ripped by bad officiating.

It was a pretty even match. Both competitors hand fight like hell, and both got to each others legs once, but did not score. Each wrestler received a point each for shot clock violations, and each got a push out. Nate was up 2-0 after the 1st period. With about a minute left he was placed on the shot clock even though he was actively pursuing points. This is where the subjectivity comes in. As the clock is winding down Ramos scores on a pushout simultaneously as the clock expires. The ref awards 1 and 1. The debate is as to whether or not he should have been put on the clock in the first place. I didn't think anything of the call. Ramos won on criteria. Nate is closing the gap, and will be right there to make the team come trials.

Buckeyes have solid representation in US Open Jr Div. freestyle semis round:
50K--Malik Heinselman (verbal)
63K--Luke Pletcher
96K--Chase Singletary (won in quarters over Kevin Snyder)
David Carr is also in the semis at 70K.
