Discussion Topic: Have Buckeyes Solved 125?
Hank Kornblut added to this discussion on August 2, 2017
Ohio State has recruited a number of prospects for 125 lbs--an obvious weight of need. Next fall, Brakan Mead and Jamien Hood arrive. Then one year later, Malik Heinselman and Kyle Gruber are supposed to come. Finally, Jacob Decatur should arrive in Fall 2019.
So, here's my question--will the Bucks have a top competitor at this weight within the next few years? I'm not sure.
Mead and Hood are both projects. Heinselman comes in with a background of huge freestyle success but he's small and it's folk. Gruber is another guy with upside at this point.
Decatur is an exciting talent but he's got two more years of high school.
So...have the Bucks got this weight figured out? Or do they need to continue looking for prospects?

short of a transfer in that's AA talent-wise I think they've recruited for top level depth at the weight about as good as they possibly could have. They were in the hunt for Spencer Lee, Nick Suriano, and Daton Fix over the past two years. It's not for lack of trying but I think the cream will have to rise to the top with their current recruiting results. Heinselman COULD be that blue chip talent if he grows into the weight.

Thoughtful response Chris and I think you make good points. One issue--Heinselman doesn't arrive for one more year and Decatur for two. Those are your biggest name recruits. Can one of them become "the man"?
