I realize this is way too early to reliably predict who will be healthy or at which weights or even if they will be on the roster but I'm bored.
How do the Bucks stack up against Penn State assuming that Suriano will be a Nittany Lion and McKenna a Buckeye? The dual will be in Happy Valley.
125 - Suriano (PSU) vs Tomasello (OSU)
133 - Cortez (PSU) vs Pletcher (OSU)
141 - Lee (PSU) vs Hayes (OSU)
149 - Retherford (PSU) vs McKenna (OSU)
157 - Nolf (PSU) vs M. Jordan (OSU)
165 - Joseph (PSU) vs Campbell (OSU)
174 - Hall (PSU) vs B. Jordan (OSU)
184 - Nickal (PSU) vs Martin (OSU)
197 - McCutcheon (PSU) vs Moore (OSU)
285 - Nevills (PSU) vs Snyder (OSU)
125 - DEC OSU 0-3
133 - DEC OSU 0-6
141 - DEC OSU 0-9
149 - DEC PSU 3-9 (Can McKenna keep it to a decison?)
157 - DEC PSU 6-9
165 - DEC PSU 9-9 (Can Campbell keep it to a decison?)
174 - DEC OSU 9-12 (This can go either way)
184 - DEC PSU 12-12 (We know MyMar can win)
197 - DEC OSU 12-15
285 - MAJ OSU 12-19 (This could be a tech)

That dual would be worth the price of admission!

I wonder if Suriano will be at 125 again? I have seen else where if he stayed at PSU he would not be back at 125.

It seems like you're looking at a 5-5 split with 174 being the only true "swing match". I do think, however, that not expecting major decisions at 149 and 157 is a bit of wishful thinking.

I think he would have to be. Penn State doesn't have another quality option at 25 and if he bumps up it knocks Cortez out of the lineup and he seems to be big on Cael's radar.

Campbell lost to Joseph last year 9-5, so I think he can keep it to a decision again.

Cory Keener will be at 133 for PSU.
I think Cortez goes to 141.
I think both are decisions for OSU either way.

Now that McKenna is in the fold we can see what our lineup will look like barring injury etc, and it's ridiculously good! Without Suriano, better than Penn State IMO. With Suriano, we're close.
I watched some vids of McKenna and he is good. Very, very good. He took Heil to overtime as a frosh and actually was in deep a couple of times but just missed finishing. Will he beat Zain? Maybe not but I think we will see some close matches. I think he can keep the match to a decision and he is definitely good enough to catch him.
As good as Nolf is Micah is a fantastic wrestler. He did not matchup well against Retherford. How will he matchup against Nolf remains to be seen.
Tom Ryan has managed to put together a team that can actually compete with the juggernaut which is Penn State. That my friends, is quite remarkable.

After watching Retherford blow through Micah a couple times last season, I'm not sure how McKenna competes with him. Maybe the difference in styles will be helpful?

I think Retherford repeats and ends his career as a 3 timer but he had a couple close matches last year with Collica and Sorensen of you recall. I think McKenna is right there with both of those wrestlers.
Micah did not match up well with him. I think some of it was mental but Zain obviously had his number.

Logan always had 1-2 tougher than expected matches. Retherford is the same level as Logan. McKenna isn't.

Ok, first off, congratulations to tOSU program on landing a top-flight athlete like McKenna. When Ohio State won its first title, Penn State was red-shirting several wrestlers in order to "reload" for a title run. This year, Ohio State is going straight at Penn State when the Nittany Lions will field their best squad of all time. As a fan of wrestling, how can you not be excited about the prospects. I know a lot can happen...injuries, upsets, emerging stars, but even with Iowa greatly stepping up their game and Michigan gathering talent at an alarming rate, it looks to be a two horse race.
In a dual, I'm on record saying it's a 5-5 split with bonus going PSU's way. If Suriono is not there, then tOSU doesn't gain an exrta win, but it would be favored for a second opportunity for bonus. That makes it a pick'em dual in my book. I favor the defending champs, but clearly this could go either way.
As far as the NCAAs, even with Penn State's love of bonus, they can now possibly be matched by seniors Tomesello, Jordan and Snyder as well as big scorers like Moore and Micah. The fact that the line-up has no holes will make up for Pletcher, Hayes and Martin who will likely go deep into the tourney...low-middle AA (maybe finals for Martin) but not bonus as much. As far as McKenna goes, I see him as a title contender at 141. He is not that at 149. Unless Hayes is really undersized to the point that he would be unsuccessful at the higher weight, I'd go with McKenna at 141 and Hayes at 149. Mo one'a beating Rutherford. I don't think anyone's beating Heil either, but at least there you have a shot.
Long story short, it should be a great year for the Buckeye faithful and for wrestling fans in general...and we are lucky enough to have the Big Show in our back yard.

For what it's worth, my abacus has it 21-20 Ohio State, with or without Suriano (although that extra point with Suriano is criteria 1):
Suriano at Penn State:
125: Tomasello tech Suriano (5-0 tOSU)
133: Pletcher dec. Keener (8-0 tOSU)
141: Hayes dec. Cortez (11-0 tOSU)
149: Retherford fall McKenna (11-6 tOSU)
157: Nolf dec. M. Jordan (11-9 tOSU)
165: Joseph fall Campbell (15-11 PSU)
174: B. Jordan dec. Hall (15-14 PSU)
184: Nickal tech Martin (20-14 PSU)
197: Moore dec. McCutcheon (20-17 PSU)
285: Snyder dec. Nevills (20-20)
Criteria 1: Ohio State 6, Penn State 4 (21-20 tOSU)
Suriano not at Penn State:
125: Tomasello fall Schnupp (6-0 tOSU)
133: Pletcher dec. Keener (9-0 tOSU)
141: Hayes dec. Cortez (12-0 tOSU)
149: Retherford fall McKenna (12-6 tOSU)
157: Nolf dec. M. Jordan (12-9 tOSU)
165: Joseph fall Campbell (15-12 PSU)
174: B. Jordan dec. Hall (15-15)
184: Nickal tech Martin (20-15 PSU)
197: Moore dec. McCutcheon (20-18 PSU)
285: Snyder dec. Nevills (21-20 tOSU)

Britt,
With all due respect, that formula is useless. Get rid of it.
Nate ain't teching Suriano, and Nickal ain't teching Martin. Nevills holding Snyder to a decision? Doubt it.
