Anyone have any knowledge on his injury or reason for pulling out of WNO?

When I saw that Willie's post said that it would be for number one, I feared that it might be a lengthy absence.

Why is one of the best lightweight wrestlers in the nation, that has already committed to one of the best universities in the nation to wrestle, playing football for a team that went 1-9 last year?! Jordan is listed as 5'5" and 140lbs, Jacob is listed as 5'4" and 110lbs on the CVCA football roster.
I compare it to a 350lb offensive lineman deciding he wants to be on the diving team or gymnastics team. Sometimes we have to use what we're given and be happy with that.

really not my place to comment, but isn't that what internet forums are for?

Maybe he enjoys being on the football team?

My thoughts exactly. I realized I was too small for football after my freshman year, but perhaps this particular student athlete really loves to play.

It is a pretty fun game.

That was my first thought.

Two local examples that seemed to navigate the two sports well was Logan Stieber and Kaleb Romero.

I remember reading stories on Logan that he would gain maybe 25-30 pounds for football and play linebacker and running back, and then lose the weight for wrestling. I don't ever remember any major injuries in his case.

Likewise, Kaleb Romero was an elite quarterback in high school. I believe that Brady stated on a recent thread that about the only losses Kaleb had in his entire high school wrestling career were when the football season went late because Mechanicsburg was in the playoffs, and Kaleb tried to transition his weight back too fast and wasn't quite ready 'wrestling-condition-wise' for the elite field competition at the Ironman. - But, I don't remember hearing that there were any major injuries in his case either.

I really don't blame these young men for wanting to enjoy the high school football experience and enjoy some cross-training away from the mats to keep the mind fresh!

I thought Logan missed one year of Ironman because of a football related injury. Bob P would know.

I absolutely applaud these kids for playing multiple sports. You're only young once. Plenty of time to focus.

Especially in small schools/communities, where all the HS coaches depend on participation.

I remember reading a couple of years ago that 42 of 47 players recruited and signed by Urban Meyer and Ohio State were multi-sport athletes.
