Bucks up 12-6 at intermission. Cleary with a dramatic win. Smith got cradled and decked.
They mentioned that Decatur didn’t make weight at the open?

thoughts on the first half of the dual:
Good effort by Pletcher against a very tough Real Woods. Woods has the look of a major player at the weight.
Kinner is so sucked in that he has trouble finishing his manuvers. He dominated on the score but couldn't find his way to a major.
Sasso had a tough opponent who was well coached to stop the things that Sammy does well. That said, he never panicked and did a nice job to score when necessary. No complaints.
Cleary got dominated until his opponent ran out of gas. Credit to him for the comeback but it's hard to get excited by what we saw. That reversal he gave up when he couldn't properly push away his opponent....come on.
Smith is making a huge cut and Griffith is good. Getting pinned just isn't acceptable. Bucks will be fighting temptation all season to use Kharchla.

To me it’s tough to tell just where some of these guys are right now primarily because there just isn’t enough info about their opponents but:
1. Kaleb looked very good. Excellent positioning and aggressive;
2. Steiner won a good match. Young still but we will see;
3. Major props to Staub. I was mentioning to my brother the looks on the fans faces when he and Showunmi walked on the mat. Picture the most athletic looking wrestler you’ve ever seen. Not enough. Then Show immediately takes Traub down.
After that all Traub did was wear down his opponent until he won. Gutsy, intelligent performance.
4. I thought Heinselman looked good...and still a little small.
Freddy: yes, the venue is a little small. But there is not a bad seat anywhere.

I thought Smith looked ok. Griffin is a better mat wrestler. However, Smith should have scored in the third had he done a better job of inching forth in improving position. He did a couple of things technically wrong which prevented him from scoring. He broke mentally there as he gave up a quick takedown and subsequent cradle and fall. While that can be mentally devastating; objectively speaking it wasn't an all bad performance.
He did have problems finishing from there last year. Both a technical and confidence problem.
Romero's pace is so much better at 174 and showed an aptitude for finishing low. His power shot has power at this weight. Looking forward to him establishing a reshot. He does a great job of moving forward, but a transition to a reshot will add a lot of value to his wrestling.

Romero looks like he has orders of magnitude more energy and power this year compared to last.
