Did the Olympic rules committee decide on the regulation size cardboard yet? Asking for a friend.

In the mean time, wrestling has lost 4 weight classes and cycling (my other sport) has lost a ton of events.
Chasing the dollars!!

makes sense to me, even the ancient Greeks couldnt resist "spinnin like a top" -- and yes Beethoven himself grooved it according to historian Chuck Berry.

Roll over Beethoven
And tell Tchaikovsky the news
You know she wiggle like a glow worm
Dance like a spinnin' top
Roll over Beethoven

While I agree break dancing should not be an Olympic Sport (specifically at the expense of other sports)it does require a lot of athleticism and hard work. Really more of an art than a sport. Interestingly, it draws a lot of the same kind of kids as wrestling (tough, quirky, not afraid of pain/looking foolish). When I coached I had numerous guys that were both wrestlers and B-boys and several of them were very good at both

It’s not a sport, it’s an event.

Hiatt is a world-class breakdancer.

He didn't make the team this year because he refuses to boogaloo to anything other than:

I share the sentiments expressed above, but pose another question. How much do the Olympics have an obligation to legacy sports to protect them/keep them in the eye. We know there are lots of nonrevenue sports that, at least in terms of public perception, are held aloft by the Olympics, and I would imagine that this trickles down to financial matters as well (funding from various NGBs, sponsorship dollars that are largely predicated on hoping for an Olympic payoff, etc.). Or how much do the Olympics ignore this and change with the times? I lean toward the former, but think it's an interesting discussion.

My second aside here is completely off topic, but there are two high level no-gi jiu jitsu competitors that are brothers and were both professional break dancers before getting really good at jiu jitsu; Richie and Geo Martinez (and not the former Boise State AA, although they have the same name and are about the same size). Apparently the body control and flexibility really translate.

Not much wrestling going on, so why not discuss breakdancing as an Olympic sport (or event).
Following up with what Pat just said, how could breakdancing be a sport to reflect the "changing times" to be recognized by the IOC as an Olympic sport when it hasn't seemed popular for 36 years since the epic release of "Breakin' 2: Electric *Boogaloo"? Maybe it has seen a resurgence and is popular today in China or Russia?
(cited Boogaloo for Justin)

*boogaloo

NOUN
1. a modern dance to rock-and-roll music performed with swiveling and shuffling movements of the body, originally popular in the 1960s.
VERB
1. perform the boogaloo dance.

Nothing but claps all around.

Pat C.: I think the IOC should hold to the traditions of what made the Olympics the pinnacle of the sports they hold dear. (And I don’t say that as a wrestling fan in support of wrestling.) To stray from that would mean they no longer hold to the values they/it once did, but rather are now changing - and that would beg the question of why?

Maybe I’m wrong but I thought the Olympics and the specific sports selected were started and done so intentionally. If I’m wrong I’m wrong. Oh, whale.
