So, the Buckeyes are finally registered and...
Kaleb Romero is registered for the Buckeyes at 184 pounds! The rest of the lineup is the same. Really looking forward to seeing how the Bucks fare this weekend. Lots of high end talent there.

Hope Yanni & Sammy meet in the finals. We'll see where Kharchla stands as NCAA Champ Griffith is entered at 165. I see Steveson is not entered at 285, but gas tank Gary Traub is for Oregon State. Some really tough kids entered.

Bucket List event for me. Perhaps in the next five years I'll make it.
Question: is Flo covering this?
Great to read that Romero is back in!
I just hope we win a match.

Two questions. What happened to hubbard? Injury I assume, but anyone know when he will be back? Two; is Carson’s leg wrap permanent or precautionary? It seems to slow him down a lot in matches.

Freeman is 4th string do you mean Hubbard?
No idea about Carson’s brace but do agree with you

If Hubbard, he wrestled an exhibition at VT. Lost by fall (2:59).

I stole the seeding list from another site and added my own thoughts.
125 (rank & possible seed)
2 1 Patrick Glory Princeton
4 2 Taylor LaMont Utah Valley
7 3 Devin Schroder Purdue
9 4 Malik Heinselman Ohio State
16 5 Jack Medley Michigan
17 6 Joe Manchio Columbia
26 7 Brandon Kaylor Oregon State
28 8 Jacob Allen Navy
Greg Diakomihalis Cornell will also be here. Malik v. Medley in the quarters would be a good match, they’ve split in the past but I favor Malik this year. I don’t know if Malik can beat Glory, but I think he can make it really close and give himself a shot. I’ll take Glory over Schroder, Malik battles back to take 3rd.
133
6 1 Chris Cannon Northwestern
14 2 Chance Rich CSU Bakersfield
16 3 Dylan Ragusin Michigan
20 4 Devan Turner Oregon State
23 5 Mosha Schwartz Northern Colorado
24 6 Matt Ramos Purdue
29 7 Haiden Drury Utah Valley
30 8 Job Greenwood Wyoming
Koontz had a huge tourney here, placing top 6 in 2019. I think he can scare a few people and possibly get into placement range again. Underwhelming weight overall. I think Cannon wins it.
141
7 1 Clay Carlson South Dakota State
9 2 Andrew Alirez Northern Colorado
11 3 Chad Red Jr. Nebraska
13 4 Grant Willits Oregon State
15 5 Parker Filius Purdue
20 6 Dylan D’Emilio Ohio State
24 7 Lawrence Saenz Cal Poly
33 8 Chase Zollman Wyoming
I think D’Emilio can wrestle better than his seed here. This will be a good chance for him to jump in the rankings. I’m taking Red to win it, with DD taking 4th.
149
1 1 Yianni Diakomihalis Cornell
2 2 Sammy Sasso Ohio State
4 3 Yahya Thomas Northwestern
6 4 Jaden Abas Stanford
12 5 Ridge Lovett Nebraska
13 6 Legend Lamer Cal Poly
15 7 Mitch Moore Oklahoma
16 8 Kanen Storr Michigan
29 9 Zach Price South Dakota State
31 10 Cory Crooks Oregon State
Let’s go baby!!!!! While there is some serious talent here that could break up the highlight match of the tourney, I think we see a Yianni-Sammy final. Scrambles for days!
157
2 1 Ryan Deakin Northwestern
5 2 Quincy Monday Princeton
6 3 Peyton Robb Nebraska
12 4 Kendall Coleman Purdue
13 5 Jacob Wright Wyoming
14 6 Justin Thomas Oklahoma
15 7 Will Lewan Michigan
17 8 Hunter Willits Oregon State
19 9 Andrew Cerniglia Navy
25 10 Bryce Hepner Ohio State
Interesting draw for Hepner. He would get Lewan in the quarters. Lewan wrestles a lot of close matches. Hepner needs 1 takedown to get by him. Any placement from Bryce would be great here.
165
2 1 Evan Wick Cal Poly
4 2 Shane Griffith Stanford
7 3 Demetrius Romero Utah Valley
9 4 Carson Kharchla Ohio State
10 5 Cameron Amine Michigan
12 6 Phil Conigliaro Harvard
17 7 Julian Ramirez Cornell
18 8 Tanner Cook South Dakota State
23 9 David Ferrante Northwestern
30 10 Joe Grello Oklahoma
31 11 Josh Ogunsanya Columbia
Big moment for Kharchla. He has beaten Amine, which puts him against Wick in the semis. Wick has a lot of leg, and I think Carson gets a couple takedowns. The question will be his bottom wrestling and neutral defense. If the giant knee brace is still inhibiting him at all, I don’t know if he can pull that one off. I’m going with Wick this weekend, and Kharchla to take 3rd.
174
3 1 Mikey Labriola Nebraska
6 2 Ethan Smith Ohio State
8 3 Chris Foca Cornell
13 4 Hayden Hastings Wyoming
16 5 Cade DeVos South Dakota State
19 6 Troy Fisher Northwestern
20 7 Gerrit Nijenhuis Purdue
22 8 Aaron Olmos Oregon State
26 9 Anthony Mantanona Oklahoma
27 10 Jacob Nolan Binghamton
29 11 Tyler Eischens Stanford
30 12 Joshua Kim Harvard
31 13 Adam Kemp Cal Poly
I really like Smith at this weight. I think he handles Nijenhuis, Foca and then gets the takedown that Romero never could and beats Labriola.
184
6 1 Bernie Truax Cal Poly
11 2 Tate Samuelson Wyoming
15 3 Taylor Venz Nebraska
16 4 Jonathan Loew Cornell
18 5 Darrien Roberts Oklahoma
20 6 Max Lyon Purdue
24 7 Travis Stefanik Princeton
25 8 David Key Navy
So, Kaleb Romero is registered for Ohio State at this weight. Does he get seeded, and, if so, where. I’m guessing he goes in at the 4 seed. A truly healthy Romero can win this weight. Lyon actually worries me because he is a beast on top, and bottom has been Kaleb’s kryptonite. I think Romero places somewhere in the 3-6 range, which is great for his first action of the year.
197
6 1 Jake Woodley Oklahoma
8 2 Patrick Brucki Michigan
9 3 Stephen Buchanan Wyoming
10 4 Eric Schultz Nebraska
11 5 Louie Deprez Binghamton
12 6 Thomas Penola Purdue
16 7 Tanner Sloan South Dakota State
18 8 Jacob Cardenas Cornell
21 9 Gavin Hoffman Ohio State
22 10 Alan Clothier Northern Colorado
27 11 Luke Stout Princeton
32 12 Andrew Davison Northwestern
33 13 Nick Stemmet Stanford
Based on this, Hoffman gets Cardenas in the quarters. That is a match he can win. I don’t think he can beat Woodley, especially the way that guy has been wrestling this year. I think Hoffman makes the 7-8 match.
285
6 1 Tate Orndorff Ohio State
13 2 Christian Lance Nebraska
15 3 Yaraslau Slavikouski Harvard
22 4 A.J. Nevills South Dakota State
28 5 Josh Heindselman Oklahoma
30 6 Joe Doyle Binghamton
If Tate is the 1 seed, I think he makes the finals. I would actually favor the 2 and 3 seeds both over him. I think Tate takes 2nd.
The Bucks have a shot at 10 placers here, but could end up with only 5 or 6 as well. I think top 3 as a team is a good showing.

Good to see Romero back in the lineup. He is an excellent competitor. If ready to go, he gives the lineup an big boost.
I thought Kharchla looked much sharper in his appearance against NDC. He is capable of beating anyone at the weight given his abilities. We'll know a lot more about the condition of his knee after CKLV.
A healthy Romero and a capable Kharchla make this a much more formidable squad.
I'm picking Heinselman to win 125. I think he's outstanding and this is his season to show it.

The pre-seeds are a little different. A few new thoughts:
125 – I would rather Malik be away from Schroder. He needs 2 takedowns, or a TD and a rideout to win that match. He’s never been able to get away from him on bottom. I do hope he tries, because better to learn now and use that info later when it matters more.
141 – I think I would rather D’Emilio be the 7 than the 6, as I’m not sold on Alirez. I think DD is still in that 4-5 range.
165 – Carson v. Ramirez in the quarters!!!! Ramirez has the big win over Griffith, but some head scratching losses as well. Assuming Carson gets by him, then he gets Griffith! Straight fire in every round here. I like Carson against Griffith, as Griffith wrestles a lot of close matches, and I think Carson gets the TD to win. I’ll move him to 2nd.
174 – I actually think Mantanona beats Nijenhuis and I think Smith takes him out in the quarters. Foca has a tough reputation, but has no notable wins. I think Smith is your champ here.
184 – Tough draw for Romero at the 6. Venz in the quarters, then Samuelson and Traux if he wants to win in. Sticking with a 4-6 finish.
Overall, I think OSU will wrestle well, and a top 3 team finish is definitely in play.

I am looking forward to Romero because he is moving up to 184. Will he be strong/big enough? Will his speedy double leg be easier to get in on bigger but possibly slower 184 guys? Will his endurance be better? I still remember when Heflin moved up to 197 he was a better wrestler and was one second away from beating Cox for the NCAA title. Come to think of it, wasn't Nick in a walking boot at the start of his senior year also?
