The future of the sport, IMO.

Pretty exciting news. Regarding growth after sanctioning, most states experience a 500-1000% within 2 years. Missouri went from 170 to 1,400 fast. With Ohio at over 800 girls already, that might be too steep of a percentage, but I would expect 2,000+ pretty fast.

It'll be interesting to see as regulations evolve over next few months, but things I'm almost certain of:

1) Will keep it's timeline of early to mid-February

2) Will obviously be one division, at least while it grows

3) State series will not integrate into the boys tournament at Schott. Will be its own thing.

4) Will allow for girls in co-ed or small programs options to get matches, while it grows. It's the "girls golf" model, and will provide growth opportunities in areas of limited females.

5) A female wrestler will likely need to choose a state series...she cannot wrestle girls districts, then boys sectionals. If she or her coach chooses to wrestle boys state series, she is ineligible for girls districts and state.

I said it to you privately Brian but it needs to be said publicly also -- thank you for the countless hours you've put into girl's wrestling. Your work at Orange is a MAJOR factor in what happened yesterday.

Well done, Brian. I am a big fan of women's wrestling. I'm glad to see it expanding.

There were many, many, many hands involved in this. Parents, OHSWCA, girls who battled for year.
