133: Mendez gets a bye and then the winner of Rutgers/Wisconsin. If all goes to form, he'll see Lucas Byrd in the semis. This is one of three wts where the Bucks have a measured shot to have a finalist
141: D'Emilio starts with Filius whom he has beaten before. Winner gets Iowa's best wrestler not named Spencer Lee in Real Woods. No secret here--D'Emilio needs to be a cons bracket warrior. It may sound outrageous but he could finish as high as third if he is able to perform at his best.
149: Sasso will end up with either Van Ness or Murin in the semis. Barring a hiccup, we should see him against Gomez for another BT title. Side note--I'm assuming Gomez is healthy and ready to go. It's possible he's not.
157: Similar to 141, this wt is wide open with the exception of future National Champ Haines and Peyton Robb. Paddy could finish anywhere from 3rd to dnp. If he can get past Iowa's Siebrecht in the first round, he has a decent shot to make the semis which would put him no worse than 6th.
165: The good news is Carson is probably the guy no one wants to see early. But is he healthy? Is he motivated? He has an eminently winnable first round match up and then will likely see Facundo. You never want to wrestle PSU at NCAA's but BT's is different. They are not primed to peak in conference. If the Bucks want to grab a team trophy at NCAA's, they need Carson Kharchla. The next few days will tell us a lot about where he's at physically and mentally.
174: Ethan Smith has a potentially tough quarterfinal matchup with Washington from Indiana. Assuming a win, he likely sees his best bud and lifelong chum, Labriola. Their dual match was very tight and both guys are very familiar with each other. Smith can be a finalist but it will take two consecutive excellent efforts.
184: Kaleb Romero has a very good shot to make the finals and anything less will seem disappointing. He shouldn't have a serious challenge until the semis and even then he's likely to win a solid controlled match.
197: Gavin Hoffman has an excellent draw. Assuming he's healthy and ready to go, he has a shot to make the finals. It helps that Dean, Amos, Warner, Foy and Caffey are all on the other side. If he has another run to AA in him, it will start with him taking advantage of this lopsided bracket.
285: Orndorff drives me a little nuts because he just can't score on his feet. He should win his first and then he gets kerkvliet. From there, who knows.
Overall I think the Bucks got pretty good placements at a number of weights with several guys having a shot to make nice runs. Third place is within their grasp if they can push at least three into the finals. Bucks have wrestled much better as the season has progressed and guys like Gallagher and D'Emilio have been increasingly competitive.
Heinselman being out hurts a bit for conference but he was not a guy you expected to do a lot at NCAA's due to his lack of horsepower.

Easy. It's early and Sasso and Mendez got byes.
D'Emilio was headed to the cons bracket no matter what.
Gallagher's match proved to be a real bad matchup. I also don't understand putting Paddy on bottom to start the third when your opponent already has 45 seconds of riding time. The only way back into that match was from neutral. Oh...Siebrecht is good. He can definitely AA if he's healthy.

D'Emilio was so close to RT and so close to getting the TD at the end, but neither guy was beating Woods. Good effort though. let's get some cons. wins.
BTW in Smiths match, he has the leg up in the air, the guys bouncing up and down by the edge of the mat and he fails to pull him back to the center and they wind up falling out of bounds, no TD. That just drives me crazy when they don't pull the guy back to center mat!!

Hoffman gets the yips out with a workman-like first round effort. Someone needs to help him with strategy. You don't need to take a crappy shot with a 2 point lead and riding time as the clock runs out.
Generally speaking, the Bucks desperately need someone on staff who has a really good technical understanding of riding.
