Paddy needed that win. Carson looked pretty good, 165 is stupid tough this year. Carr looks unbeatable right now

Every match I’ve seen this year: cover the opposite ankle and it’s 2.

Smith goes down to Brands. Tough one to lose. Hopefully he can fight back.

Smith will have a rubber match with Wolek and if he wins that has a decent path to AA

So the Bucks pushed 3 into the quarters ( Sasso, Carson, Romero) with everyone still alive after day one.

Nope -- there's more to this.

In addition, remember that Starocci only beat Brands 2-1 on RT. He is really tough to score on.

Smith is one of my favorites because no matter who he wrestles he usually gets a TD and was thinking he could beat Lewis and Labriola.

Oh well.

Jesse Mendez has a very tough road to AA. Has to beat Zaccone (Campbell), Ragusin, then most likely Byrd. He's proven he can beat them, just has to do it back to back to back today.

Dylan D'Emillo has an even tougher road to AA. Crook (VT), most likely Mattin then either Matthews (Pitt) or Bartlett (PSU) to AA. The non-td call and the refs allowing Woods to be in reverse the last two periods with only 1 warning was tough/frustrating to watch.

Sasso has the dangerous Yahya in the quarters. How he's wrestling, I see him in the finals.

Paddy -- nice to see him get a dub yesterday -- and showed some moxie doing so. Really needed that! Humphreys (Lehigh) is really tough -- and he was in on multiple leg attacks but just couldn't score. He beat Coleman of Purdue by same 3-0 score. PG has to beat Holschalg (UNI), then most likely Model (Wisc) and then probabily Lewann to AA. Definitely a long shot but he has the goods to get it done.

Carson -- Defending Champ O'Toole in quarters. Rematch of last years where he got screwed on the no-call and again in review process. Win and AA, lose and I think he'll get Hall(WVU) or Cook (SDSU) - both who he's the favorite -- to AA.

Ethan -- rubbermatch with Wolak (Col) to open today. Then probably Fisher (NW). Get through those two and he'll get O'Riely from MN to AA. Obviously has the skill to do so and will be the favorite in all 3 matches.

Kaleb -- Brooks in quarters. Rematch of last year (and two from this year). 0-3 in career vs him. Big hill to get over and hoping he can wrestle more like dual than other two matches. Win and AA, lose and he'd most likely face Malczewski (MSU) or Samuleson (LEH) to AA.

Gavin -- has Dean (PSU) to open this morning. Defending Champ and 3X AA in Consi Rd 2 is brutal. Such is D1 Wrestling. Every match after this would be easier if he can pull off the major upset.

Tate -- Has Griess (Navy), then most likely Trephan (NCST). Get by those two and he'll have either Schultz or Cassioppi.

AA probability from most to least likely (IMHO):

Sammy, Kaleb, Carson, Ethan, Jesse, Dylan, Paddy, Tate, Gavin.

Yes, it is hard to score on him good hand/head defense. However, mostly all his matches are 1 point or 1 take down matches. I just think Ethan is the better/more accomplished wrestler. If he could of somehow got past Brands he was set up for a hobbled Lewis in the QF.

The D'Emilio review seemed to take an unusually long time, which indicates it was really close to a TD. One thing I come away with regarding DD and Paddy is that they can go toe-to-toe with the top guys. I wasn't convinced before the tournament. A few adjustments next year could have them up at the top level. I felt the same anguish 2 years ago when Sammy was denied a TD at the end of his O'Conner finals match, so close, so close.

Add the no TD call for Bo against Hall in the finals.
