I really enjoyed that. Thanks for posting, Brady.

Some very interesting and honest tidbits in there.

The insight I enjoyed the most was when he said something like... "I thought, 'I don't want Terry Brands coaching against me. I want him coaching for me.'"

Ain't that the truth. NATO can attest to that wisdom.

I remember talking with an assistant volleyball coach at OSU that played at Iowa and she shared an insight. The Iowa fans were like professional sports fans as they did not have professional sports teams in Iowa like some other states. Hence, you have a built-in population that gets diluted in other states.

A bigger fan base and name allows leverage to effectively utilize your brand. If Spencer won his 4th, he is made man. Consequence and the status totally change.

If he won and does not go on to do anything else in wrestling due to injuries; he would of been considered the best collegiate wrestler at Iowa which is quite the accomplishment. That could equate into a lot of monetization.

Big difference between graduating with no bills and graduating with no bills and a couple hundred K in the bank. Also, being readily recognizable to target audiences of advertisers.

Student athletes are understanding their value/worth. Whereas thirty years ago, it was be thankful and shut up. Oh and if you are injured, you suck. The only thing that hasn't changed is the part about being injured.
