Went ahead and threw all the individual results below by order of team performance.
From an OU lens (perhaps someone else can comment on CSU/KSU who has more line up expertise):
- I predict they get 3 total qualifiers in Kellar, Greer, and Thompson. Perine should be in the discussion which would get them to 4.
- I watched most of the tournament and really think OU wrestled well, even in matches they lost. They were almost always the aggressor. They had some very tough losses.
- Kellar wins 157 which was the best in-season weight with 5 AQs. He had 3 falls and a 2-0 decision in the finals.
- Thompson got pinned in the first place match but was dominant until then. He is ranked 12 and should get a WC.
- Raike lost two one point matches and then looked worn out in the 5/6 match.
- Perine. My goodness. In his semi final match he scored the winning TD at the end of regulation. They reviewed and waved it off. Then he scored the winning TD at the end of sudden victory. They reviewed and waved it off. Brutal.
- Lehman just didn't seem to have the good stuff this weekend. That dude competes hard. Not sure if he was nursing something nagging or what.
- Greer went from 6 seed to finishing 3rd. Great performance and qualified for NCAAs.
- Props to the first three weights for battling but they have been under manned at those 3 weights all season.

I went to an OU dual with Buffalo this year. They were flat and got their butt kicked in front of a raucous crowd.
I wish I could get more excited about the other three Ohio D1 programs. CSU has been much better in duals the last few years but flat at the MAC tourney. Kent just hasn't been very good in a while. MAC schools probably don't get the necessary support from their athletic departments but I'd love to see more tough Ohio kids seeing these three as options.

I think Kent needs some life breathed into the program, really no momentum in a number of years after those glory years 10 or so years ago. I know Mitcheff was named associate head coach a year or so ago, which would presumably make him the front runner to replace Andrassy when he steps aside. I'm pessimistic if the associate head coach of a fledgling team is really the one to turn it around, although i would love to be wrong.

I just think the MAC as a conference has invested so much in football and basketball that there are no dollars for other sports. And since these schools don't typically draw, they can only break even by playing big boy schools and getting annhiliated while also getting paid. Most MAC schools would be much better off if football just went away.
Kent had a good thing going for awhile but there hasn't been much to cheer for since Ian Miller graduated. I also think its obvious they miss Josh Moore.
Josh Moore is coaching his butt off at CSU but he's mostly taking guys that probably don't even belong in D1 and making them scrappy. 285 Bucknavich is pretty good.
OU seems to have a bit more talent than the other two but there are always injuries and not enough depth.
All this is complicated by the fact that Ohio State is the dream for some in state kids that might otherwise go to one of these other schools. Most of the Bucks second string would arguably be the best wrestler on any other Ohio D1 squad.
Given the transfer portal situation, I think that any MAC school and certainly the ones in Ohio need to seem more attractive to wrestlers from the state who want more opportunity. How does that happen?

For OU this season, it was really a tale of two teams.
No shade intended for the first 3 weights, certainly all these young men are giving it their all, but the results were brutal. Most duals they were down 12-18 points after the first 3 weights. Not sure if these are recruiting misses or development misses, but they really got no production from those weights.
From 49 - 285 OU was pretty darn good. IF they could right the ship at the lower weights from either the transfer portal, new recruits, or development, they will be a top 25 team next season.
