Was rooting for fix. 4 time runner up is rough but he just didn't attack enough. Although Vito looks almost impossible to score on.
Feldman would have been a much better final with penn.
Mendez is a studd, two different times he fights out of for sure takdowns...

Not going to hate on the stalls on rocco... I think 2 might have been stretching it.. maybe not.
But penn stalled entire 3rd period.

The 2nd call was atrocious. Angel sucks. He backed up those quick calls by not dinging CS when he was stalling WAY WORSE in the 3rd period. Trash.
The stall calls on Carr were horrid also.
Those two matches are made even worse when you consider stalling isn't called that way the entire season.

No doubt, that second stall call in the first really changed the match.
And I know it wouldn’t have changed the outcome, but how do you not ding Starocci a second time in the third?

Nope. Neutral regardless. Starocci would have buried him in the mat for one minute, probably two.

I think Rocco escaped from him in the dual meet when he was down. No guarantee Starocci rides him.

The match on now - Brooks hangs on the head and holds the wrist and Hidlay gets dinged. Starocci and Bartlet both wrestle that way.

The stall calls on Carr were maddening. Very glad to see him win it.
I wonder what he thinks in hindsight about committing to so many mat returns in the first period. That cost him a ton of energy. Then, giving up the escape and stall point at the end of the second was a painful double whammy.
Got his hand raised though. Fantastic wrestler. Very skilled, very gifted, very studied. Proud his path came through Ohio.

Hidlay got dinged because he did 0 offense while backing up almost the entire match.
Biggest problem is they called stalling one way the entire year and over the first two days of the tournament -- then a completely different way in the finals.

And why Mesenbrink not knowing he was behind at the end was shocking. He got too caught up in the match to be aware of the match - or so it appeared.

It's interesting you bring up that point Hank, because when Rocco wrestled Starocci in the dual, I don't recall Starocci taking that many shot in the match. but tonight he took enough to get 2 stall calls. That may have been the plan all along. It's rough to take a loss when the only points were from an escape and stalling.
