So Starocci graduated HS in 2019 it appears.

20 RS
21 Champ
22 Champ
23 Champ
24 Champ

If whatever the rule is allows him to come back to compete a 6th year, it should be revisited.

My opinion on college guys competing this long is more along the lines of... go get a job, man! I get the love of the sport but unless you're going to become a full time competitive athlete, staying in college until you're 25, 26, etc just seems to push back every meaningful date of your adult life.

As someone who took a long time to graduate college, I speak from experience on this matter!

Ethan, were you okay with the rule when it benefited Ohio State last season? Romero, Smith, Heinselman and Orndorf all were competing on a Covid year. The Bucks consequently got a trophy at the NCAA tournament.

Drew - I've never liked the rule if a promotes a 6th year of eligibility. Or 7th. Or whatever.

I'm a Buckeye fan, not a Buckeye homer.

No one should be able to win 5 National Championships. Period.
Especially when guys like Kollin Moore get screwed out wrestling for one his senior campaign.

The 2025-26 wrestling season will look a lot different, the vast majority of the Covid years will be gone, things will “back to normal” for lack of a better term. I do agree that no one should have the opportunity to win 5 titles, but this is the way the NCAA played it, so here we are. Crazy that arujau and fix both graduated high school in 2017, that’s nuts. To put that into some perspective, my oldest daughter graduated high school in 2018, and will be graduating from PA school in June, she’ll turn 24 next week

I agree.
Moore and Pletcher's class got hosed, the way the NCAA handled this.
But in my opinion you should get to compete in four (4) NCAA championships.
No more than that.
Period.

No less than 4 period is the crazier thing. How are some only allowed three? How can you get punished for Covid and only be allowed to compete in three. Who made these decisions????

I know holding kids back in 8th grade is the acceptable thing, and I don't fault people for doing it. But personally, I could not ask my kid to do that, and take them away from their friends, their classmates, their education, etc.

Wrestling is important, and has been a huge part of my life, but there are so many other things that are more important than the sport that I love.

Maybe I am too old school for this conversation.

The thing that always gets me about this topic is that the very people stating that there is no advantage to holding kids back are the very ones doing it. Soooo, if there is no advantage, why do it??? Seems odd.

Sleep and video games and wrestling, "that's all I did," for a whole year.
"I didn't have any friends," "I didn't see anyone."

Wow.
That's really, really sad."

If he did in fact do this he was likely breaking the law. In Ohio children between the ages of 6 and 17 are required by law to attend school. 15 or more unexcused absences in a year (or 10 in a month) is the threshold for when the law/courts are able to intervene (although they rarely do unless it is egregious). If he was in Ohio he would likely have been charged with truancy and his parents with educational neglect. Just sayin...

TO be clear, I don't hate the people or kids that do hold back a year. If that is a decision that is right for them, more power to them. I just personally would not go that route.

I was waiting for this weekend Brady. If you don’t think Bo Bassett is an gaurenteed all American in d1 right now just look what he did to Ashnault a former d1 champ. Bo Bassett is a generational talent. I think he would bonus bouzakis today and will only get better. If he loses when he gets to college the total losses will be counted on one hand.

Quote from Ethan Moore's post:

"Nick -

You’re proving my point.

It’s legal and is what it is. Not much to say.

But it’s an advantage.

Again, both can be true."

Both are 100% true.

...and I'm not sold that BB would be an AA right now."

I just watched Bo Bassett and i second what Nick said. He is an arguably better version of Mitch Mesenbrink.
