Yesterday greco and women's freestyle kicked things off. Former Buckeye Fritz Schierl (now competing for Minnesota Storm) won at 87 kg over Andrew Berreyesa. Berreyesa was a junior world medalist at some point in the past if I recall correctly, so that's a decent win. Massillon product Lauren Louive won at 62 kg over Skylar Hattendorf. Louive teched her way through the bracket without giving up a point.

Men's freestyle starts at 10 AM. I gotta do yardwork today, but will try to check in on results when I can!

NATO is the top seed at 57kg. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action.

Anthony Knox and Jax Forrest are also in this wt.

NATO cut hard to make this weight. His body is noticeably different. His thick frame has given way to a much skinnier version.

He easily won his first match. He was cornered by Lou Rosselli.

This is likely Nate’s final chance to make a team. Don’t count him out. 57 kilograms is riddled with uncertainty at the top. The cut is killing Gilman. Same is likely to be true if Vito shows up here. How healthy is Spencer Lee?

Nate took third at the 2020 (2021) trials.

If he qualifies today - big if - he’s got a chance to play spoiler in State College.

Christian Carroll looks legit as his technique was super sound and his physical build is similar to Kyle Snyder.

Will Carroll cut to 197 for the NCAA season?

How excited should we be about Davino at this point? At u17 last year he beat Forrest 8-1 and 5-1. He also beat world champ Marcus Blaze this year. I really wish he would have entered this bracket this weekend.

Tomasello has been coaching Padua for the last 7 months. That’s a lot of time spent if he was serious about making an Olympic team. I can’t imagine he had any coaches or workout partners during that period. He has been working out at the ortc since the high school season ended but that is not nearly enough time to be truly an Olympian.
