"How do consolation matches work?
What does taken 3rd get you?"

I'm fuzzy on how this works with the challenge tournaments, but I thought getting 3rd meant you were a National Team member, and got funding.

J'Den Cox leaves his shoes on the mat. Very candid interview afterword about losing to guys he used to beat, not having the fire anymore, and ready to shift focus on family, etc.

Mendez over Yianni. Moore over Cox. Incredible showing for the maligned tOSU RTC. Great job by both guys to advance to the finals

Mendez has to win another one to make finals. He needs to win an extra match bc of Zain getting a bye into semis

In this tournament Cael is doing what good youth clubs do in bad youth tournaments. Just beyond impressive.

Ethan, and to think his top three guys won’t take the mat until tomorrow.

No dog in the fight but the singlet pull call put me in a deep dark place.

All Nitany Lion finals at 65, 74, 86. Gilman/ Lee match is going to happen. Jesse just has had an incredible tournament. I really thought he was going to do it against Zain as well. I hope he manages to come back for third. He’ll have the Gross/Alirez winner first.
JB loses to Nolf. I’ll save the career/impact comments, but this tournament was very much a struggle for Burroughs. Losing to Dake last year made this path a formidable one. I also don’t think anyone wanted to see him go out in a hostile environment like that. You could see jerks in stands consistently yelling garbage at him, booing him, etc. As one of the GOATs he deserved better

Not surprised by the fan behavior in State College. Par for the course with that crew. Solely interested in their guys, very little respect for other wrestlers, and really not much interest in the sport otherwise.

That's tough. The singlet definitely got tugged -- and that's a point -- but did it affect anything? I don't think so.
That said, the official getting caught in the action cost Brooks a point also. In every situation I've seen, that is a continuation takedown. So those points are a wash.
The biggest head scratcher to me in that match was why in the world did Cael/Bo throw the brick on that 4 pt takedown??? That was a bad decision on a level I've never seen from a PSU corner -- and confirmed by the quickest challenge review in the history of reviews. That very easily could (and in some people's mind "should") have cost Brooks the match.
