Yes, Kirian is a senior and a two-time state placer at 189. After qualifying for the state tournament as a freshman at 171, Kirian bumped up to 189 and placed fourth as a sophomore. Because of an injury sustained during football he was out most of his junior year, but he came back in time to place sixth.

With five returning state placers - Neff, Miller, Kirian, Porter, and Jones - all at 189, there is a wealth of talent there that is as deep as it will be in any division. I look for a couple of them to move up to a weaker weight class at 215. That's why I've listed Kirian and Porter (who I know was/is big) up there, but it's just a guess and they could be back down at 189 this year.

let's talk 171. Coming out of OCC. Hunter Reed is gone, Wolff is gone, Cartwright (?) is also gone. Brickner is gone. Whos your preseason picks comin out? Brandon Butler? Cody Camper? Might be a weak weight class, considering who wrestled there last year. Comments? Insights?

I'd rank the returners something like this...
1. Michael Kleman - 11 - Kansas Lakota
2. Brandon Butler - 11 - Liberty Center
3. Zach Seislove - 12 - Tiffin Calvert
4. Mickey Britenriker - 12 - Archbold
5. Cody Camper - 12 - Mount Blanchard Riverdale
6. Kenny Means - 12 - Plymouth
7. Josh Wolfe - 12 - Elmore Woodmore
8. Andy Rogers - 12 - Oregon Cardinal Stritch

Add in guys who could be new to this class such as...
Chris Phillips - 9 - Monroeville
Derrick Yant - 12 - Delta

With Pat Harrington (SMCC) gone, what would be your lineup out of OCC for 119? I know alot of people were glad to see him move to the next level. Really enjoyed watching him wrestle. Thanks for your comments.....

119 at the Owens C.C. District is part of a dynamite class from last year that returns some very good wrestlers.

Jordan Karnes (Edgerton) had a monster year last year, ending with a 6th place finish at the state tournament. He is the top-ranked returner. Behind him is sophomore Payton Oney (South Central) who I was very impressed with. South Central has a tough program for only starting a few years ago! The third and fourth spots would belong to Matt Stasa (Evergreen) and Justin Biddle (Liberty Center) who are both very good. Then there are a few wrestlers on the bubble, such as Kuzma and Curcio.

Quote from David Bailes's post:

"Im not really sure how my top 3 in each weight, but Im pretty confident that Mogadore will have 3 guys at state this year."

Narrator: Mogadore did not have 3 guys at state that year.

It did have one though - 160: Shayne Stewart (Mogadore)

I cut my wrestling forum teeth on the Huddle. She is a thing of the past at this point; unrecognizable from what it once was. And to think - the request of $1/month destroyed the website.
