Well I’m choosing to keep the faith. In Ryan. In the program. In our present and future. This team doesn’t have the horse (or star) power as some of our past teams. We all know that. But we just took fourth in the Big Ten. This year, that was probably our ceiling. And we just went 5 for 8 in the first round of the NCAA championships. I know we’d have liked to have gone 8 for 8. But if we’re being honest with ourselves, Smith’s loss was the only true “upset,” albeit a very disappointing one. My hope is that this team will fight, that certain of our five will continue to advance in the championship bracket, and that any and all others will battle like heck in the consies. On that end, Smith should hearken back to J.D. Bergman, back in the day - remember when he lost in the first round, then ran the table (six for six) in the consie bracket, to finish 3rd (?).
Regardless, I’m confident that our future is bright.
Go Bucks!
I’ll shut up now.

Gavin Hoffman pulled a mild upset from a seeding perspective.
Smith and Heinselman both losing first round....ouch.

How about Marcus Robinson, Cleveland State, over Mike Van Brill?
When's the last time a Viking pulled an upset at the NCAA's?
Awesome.
Josh Moore can coach.

I think Gavin has had such close matches, win or lose, he has the mindset that if it's close in the third he can beat anyone. Well done. IMO, Malik got beat by a better guy, but Smith didn't, and that's what is hard to swallow today. Hope he can string some wins together and AA.

Nice win by Gavin. He is going to have to beat two guys seeded ahead of him to AA. Doable, especially with his style of wrestling.
Looking ahead, Ethan will likely have to beat Plott of Okie State in the AA round. I like that match up. While it was disappointing loss, he is still the best 5-8 wrestler at that weight.

TOSU stinks because, you know, David Carr just lost.
It’s an odd year. They are a young team compared to Iowa, PSU, and TSUN.
If the next two years are clunkers I get it. This year, let’s hope for the best.
Freddy: the group around me loves the Buckeyes and TR. Go Bucks!

Nice win for Kaleb. Good to see him finish those takedowns late.
